Background: Orca is the most user-friendly trading protocol on Solana. With the recent launch of the Climate Fund, we are looking to recruit a diverse set of working group members. As an inaugural working group member, you will have the unique chance to contribute to web3 native climate change initiatives and shape the future of Orca’s Climate Fund itself. The three key pillars of the Climate Fund are as follows:

Continue purposeful philanthropy for climate change organizations Actively fight climate change through web3-native initiatives. Examples of potential initiatives include:

Evaluating and taking accountability for Orca’s climate footprint through energy use reduction, carbon offsets, or other methods. NFT fundraisers for carbon removal or avoidance projects with local partner Collaborations with other Web3 climate projects such as faciliating crosschain efforts, tokenization, joint events, etc.

Ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the Climate Fund while aligning with Orca’s values and growth

Responsibilities: While individual responsibilities may vary based on interest, expertise, and delegation, the overall responsibilities for the working group are as follows.

Establishing a framework for sustainable donations for climate change organizations

Determining the appropriate number of grants, grant sizes, frequency, and themes as applicable Establishing a process to identify a shortlist of organizations ranging from forming clear mission statements and evaluation criteria for the grants to completing organizational due diligence and collaborating to identify value-aligned project(s) Facilitating community voting for a shortlist of organizations in a process that is aligned with Orca’s governance structure Execution of the donations by collaborating with the chosen organization(s)

Identifying and executing on select Web3 x climate change initiatives through 2023. Responsibilities may include:

Researching feasibility of various initiatives through background research and interviews with subject matter experts Driving implementation by coordinating with the working group and/or external stakeholders Leading external communications on the status updates and deliverables for each initiative

Creating and maintaining a dedicated website for the Climate Fund that outline clear, time-capped goals of the working group, quarterly updates on the different initiatives and donations, and activities to establish accountability Working with the Orca governance process to set and follow appropriate spend budgets for each initiative based on accrual to ensure the sustainability of the fund Rallying community support and engagement for all Climate Fund initiatives

Commitment:

An average of 15 hours/month through the end of 2022 at a minimum. Attend weekly or biweekly working group meetings Based on responsibilities as decided on by the group, to execute on chosen initiatives

Please note that this is a voluntary position initially. Compensation may be available in the future if approved by Orca's governance and community. What you bring:
