The Job

  • Oversee all Controllership Function responsibilities including monthly close, contract and project accounting, GL account reconciliations, financial statement preparation and analysis and government controls and compliance activities.
  • Forecast revenue, costs, and cash flow on a company-wide basis.
  • Assisting the CEO in liaising with external auditors and tax professionals
  • Analyze and present complex financial information in simple terms, with conclusions and recommendations to leadership, board, and investors.
  • Inform our strategic decisions with accurate and up-to-date accounting status, transactions, dependencies, and trends.
  • Being a key component in the process of onboarding new products/funds with the administrator
  • Providing additional bandwidth to other Shrapnel teams on an ad hoc basis as availability permits.

  • Minimum of 6 years relevant work experience; with at least 3 years in Entertainment or Software Development fields.
  • Experience working with outsource, vendor and subcontractor models, including multi-site and multi-currency reporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience with, accounting principles and concepts, and financial analysis and reporting, including US GAAP and SOX guidelines.
  • Skilled communicator with a leadership presence; able to influence and shape favorable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset to financial process, controls and compliance environments.
  • Must be able to work in the US

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or related discipline.
  • CPA designation or equivalent.
  • Interest in pop culture, geek culture, video games, film, TV -- and relevant knowledge of related fast-changing platforms, consumer behaviors and economies.
  • Office365 and Google Suite proficiency.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement; humble and ambitious.
  • Prior experience in a startup environment or small business.
  • Adaptable, with a good sense of humor.
