The Innovation & Market Intelligence group is a select team of futurists providing leadership and strategic oversight in the areas of long-term strategy, industry and competitive analysis, business intelligence, and the identification and design of exponential “Spotify Moonshots.”
We are looking for an execution-oriented Sr. Manager to join our team, reporting directly to our Head of Innovation & Market Intelligence. In this role, you will research emerging areas of interest, source and diligence M&A and strategic partnership opportunities, and help drive the resulting key new initiatives from concept deck to launch.
The ideal candidate will have a deep familiarity with the startup and tech ecosystem, experience in or around venture capital / early-stage investing, media industry expertise, and be excited by emerging markets and culture. You must possess an uncanny ability to synthesize vast amounts of qualitative and quantitative data into high caliber output on extremely tight timelines. You will display the intellectual rigor to define ambitious and ambiguous opportunities, the operational endurance to drive large-scale initiatives with limited direction, and the professional finesse to manage internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Do:
- Act as the principal operator under the group Head to develop market insight reports, build concept pitch decks, and project manage key initiatives end-to-end
- Lead trend forecasting and market intelligence work to generate polished trend reports and insights to articulate actionable strategy and briefs
- Create presentations, written memos, and digital and physical artifacts leveraging new trends, technology, and behaviors across consumer, creator, content, and technology landscapes to bring future opportunities to life
- Proactively source and vet new - and non-obvious - growth opportunities including analyzing emerging industry or technology sectors, scanning the competitive landscape, conducting due diligence, and designing investment and partnership opportunities
- Engage ecosystem-building activities, including representing the team at external meetings, conferences, and other field visits that build our network and presence within the broader industry
- Lean into corporate strategy, competitive analysis, and M&A / partnerships as needed
Who You Are:
- A digital-native with a expert familiarity in emerging trends, technologies, platforms and ecosystems, especially as it relates to content, creators, music, web3, and emerging technologies
- 6-8+ years of work experience with a focus on the tech and/or media sector, including: 2+ years in either tier I consulting, investment banking, TMT equity research, venture capital, corporate innovation or corporate development, or related roles 2+ years in an operating or investing role, preferably at a high-growth technology or media company
- MBA or equivalent graduate degree strongly preferred
- Self-motivated with the ability to take direction, but not rely on it; must be able to operate with minimal guidance in a loosely structured, entrepreneurial environment
- A generous and humble team player - someone with big picture thinking but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to drive success end-to-end without the need for personal recognition
- Strong analytical capabilities and business rigor, as well as the ability to synthesize sophisticated information to form strategic theses around companies, industries and trends
- Highly skilled in creating slide decks, written memos, financial models and forecasts for media and technology-driven business models
- Passionate about market research, including the ability to lead ethnographic, desk, and data-driven research, as well as to generate polished trend reports and insights to articulate actionable strategy and briefs
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, executive presence, and unparalleled attention to detail
- Work from our offices in New York in a hybrid capacity
