Finixio is seeking a talented and experienced Americas News Desk Editor to join our team and contribute to our goal of creating the most informative sites in this vertical.

Our sites – Techopedia.com, Business2Community.com & Cryptonews.com – boast some of the best search rankings in the industry (5+ million visits monthly), competing with many mainstream sites, such as forbes.com. We focus on growth, and giving our audience trustworthy, reliable and informative content, with an emphasis on breaking news, engaging with industry thought leaders and leading the news agenda.

If you are knowledgeable about fintech, cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and the rapidly evolving world of decentralized finance (DeFi); have a passion for breaking news and delivering engaging stories that capture the attention of readers - you are most certainly in the right place.

Key responsibilities of the role:

• Assign stories and approve pitches from reporters
• Edit stories, with particular attention to enforcing good news reporting and writing (news pyramid), making sure all editorial and content guides are implemented, and ensuring best SEO practices
• Ensure the desk is reactive to breaking news, always aiming to be first to publish
• Focus on generating authentically original news with fresh angles and theme
• Focus on achieving a regular stream of scoops and exclusives
• Contribute to the editorial output of the desk by writing daily high-quality stories as an example of best practice for the wider team
• Hire new staff members
• Train new staff as required
• Assign beats to journalists

Requirements:

• Demonstrable ability in managing and building a team of journalists/reporters
• Strong knowledge of the fintech / crypto industries, including areas ranging from VC investments, business technology and industry regulations to neobanks, industry regulations, artificial intelligence and other emerging trends
• Demonstrable ability to write compelling news stories and to encourage the team to do the same
• Ability to work under pressure and to react quickly to breaking news
• Professional journalistic qualification (NCTJ or the equivalent of this UK journalist training body) and/or a degree in journalism, media and communications or similar.
• Multimedia skills for podcasting and video
