Director - Internal Audit
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the internal audit function, including the planning, execution, and reporting of audit engagements related to cryptocurrency operations, financial products, and regulatory compliance.
- Develop audit plans, methodologies, and test procedures to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of company controls across various teams including finance, operations, and technology.
- Document audit findings, observations, and recommendations in clear and concise audit reports, including actionable remediation strategies and prioritized risk mitigation measures.
- Monitor and track the progress of remediation efforts and follow up on outstanding audit issues to ensure timely resolution and closure.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of policies, procedures, and controls related to company operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including IT, compliance, legal, and business units, to facilitate the implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to internal audit staff, fostering a culture of excellence, professionalism, and continuous learning within the audit function.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CIA, CISA, CFE) preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive audit experience in the financial services industry, with specific expertise in cryptocurrency finance, blockchain technology, and digital assets.
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation or equivalent fraud audit experience highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of financial accounting, cryptocurrency regulations, compliance requirements, information systems security and industry best practices, with a strong understanding of fraud risk management principles and methodologies.
- Experience in leading a team of compliance professionals.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Extensively proficient with accounting and CRM software.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage audit teams, prioritize workload, and drive results in a dynamic and fast-paced start-up environment.
