Web3 Central Compliance Officer

Compensation: $90k - $110k estimated

Overview of team:

Compliance has been expanded to address current and future business and regulatory needs, as part of a wider development of the crypto markets, and B2C2’s own global business growth and related investment in its internal control environment. The Compliance team includes both regulatory and financial crime compliance, and this role straddles both areas.

Scope of role:

This role involves directly managing key aspects of B2C2’s controls framework - including SMCR, conflicts, risk incidents / registers, incoming due diligence queries from third parties, regulatory reporting, internal reporting, regulatory interaction and record keeping, as well as general support for the wider Compliance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SMCR – Maintain the list of SMFs, certified and/or conduct staff, registering SMFs/Certified staff with the FCA, keeping the FCA register up to date with certified staff, completing the annual fitness and propriety checks etc. Liaison with HR to identify new joiners as certified staff/SMFs.
  • Compliance Training allocation, completion and follow up.
  • Conflicts - enhancing and maintaining the current business and personal conflicts framework, reviewing and/or approving personal account dealing, outside business interests and gifts & entertainment requests, and ensuring staff attest to compliance with the various policies and procedures related to conflicts.
  • Risk registers - involvement in the review, tracking & resolution of, and record keeping related to, complaints, disputes, whistleblowing, breaches and conduct incidents.
  • Co-ordinate Due Diligence Requests - receiving and responding to due diligence requests from third parties, including clients, brokers, exchanges, enhancing the process in general to standardise and streamline this process as much as possible.
  • Regulatory reporting - work with Finance, Legal and HR to ensure all regulatory reports that are owned fully or partially by Compliance are completed in full and on time.
  • Regulatory interaction - working with senior management to support them in all / any regulatory interactions, including enquiries and/or permissions, ensuring that all records related to these interactions are filed and logged
  • Record keeping - working with all areas of the Compliance function to ensure key records such as risk assessments, policies, training materials, regulatory change, new business approvals, surveillance, testing etc are all retained and available for regular use and/or audit.
  • Internal reporting - coordinating, preparing and managing stakeholders’ timely input for monthly compliance reporting, to enable appropriate oversight and control and ensure appropriate updates provided to the relevant governance forums. Using the monthly data to input Compliance KRIs into the wider firm reporting.
  • Supporting other functions within Compliance, such as advisory, monitoring, surveillance and financial crime as and when necessary, as well as general support to the Americas and EMEA Heads of Compliance.

Experience of smaller, fast growing fin tech business and/or crypto product familiarity
