Web3 Director, Technical Documentation

Compensation: $63k - $90k estimated

Chainalysis is looking for a visionary documentation team leader who will evolve our technical writing efforts from start-up to maturity.

The Director of Technical Documentation will have the opportunity to make an incredible impact by reshaping how we think about documentation as an organization through maturing our company’s documentation strategy, processes, and staffing models. The role suits those who have a bias toward action and impact and who are personally driven by the Chainalysis mission. We measure success by the retention and engagement of our technical writers, product engagement of our customers, and ultimately delivery against our content roadmap. When successful, you’ll know that you have delivered our customers an experience that has deepened their love for all that Chainalysis has to offer.

In one year you’ll know you were successful if…

  • You are able to lead, develop, and mentor a growing team of Technical Writers
  • Developed a content roadmap that compliments our product roadmap and allows us to forecast staffing needs.
  • Developed OKRs and KPIs that help tell the story of our Documentation Team’s success
  • Reviewed current platforms (Jira, Zendesk Guide, Redocly) and services (Grammarly) and made recommendations on areas where we can improve the output of our efforts
  • Continuously improve Chainalysis’ documentation content in collaboration with engineers, product managers, and others.
  • Help developers and other members of the community successfully work with our products in a self-service model.
  • Participate in reviews and revamps of section or page content and structure.
  • Help review and triage incoming suggestions, corrections, and other content.
  • Improve the Chainalysis documentation site features and user experience in collaboration with engineers and other technical writers. These efforts might include the documentation site’s design, search, build process, feedback methods, SEO, visitor analytics, versioning, and other technical components.

A background like this helps:

  • You’ve managed and mentored a globally distributed team of 5+ Technical Writers.
  • You’ve defined, tracked, and reported on content metrics
  • You have experience conducting content audits
  • You can demonstrate a history of outstanding writing and editing skills and experience crafting content strategies
  • You have experience translating technical concepts into concise, easy-to-understand language
  • You have published content in content management systems like Zendesk Guide
  • You’ve crafted API documentation that has empowered developers to more easily understand how to work with API services
  • You have experience with docs-as-code tooling and environments
