Web3 Engineering Manager - Canada Wide - Remote

Newton team members are spread out across Canada within a fully-remote capacity.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager to help us craft high-performance and impactful teams. As a manager you will be responsible for the planning, delivery, mentoring, and coaching of a geographically distributed Engineering Team.

As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for • Leading Engineering effort to effectively execute product roadmaps and produce quality deliverables •  Understanding employees' career direction and working to empower them by acting as a mentor and coach • Setting goals, conducting regular 1-on-1s, and providing professional constructive feedback/coaching to ensure team’s success • Collaborating with cross-functional peers (i.e. product, design, data) to shape product vision • Driving team members growth and performance, both technically and professionally work closely with the product and design teams and help with cross-team priorities and management • Ensuring the team is properly resourced with the proper skills and develop plans to address skill and resourcing gaps on the team • Driving team health and cohesion, ensuring a good mix to technical and soft skills within the team to achieve team objectives • Providing insight and guidance on best Engineering practices • Reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates for the team • Rolling up your sleeves and jumping into the code when needed

Nice to haves • 2+ years of people management experience in building and leading high-functioning teams • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience for large-scale applications • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and support a rapidly growing business • Experience working in agile development and familiarity with project management methodology (Waterfall, Agile, and Lean)
