We primarily steward the Substrate ecosystem, which includes Polkadot and Kusama, next-generation sharded, multichain networks. Our flagship product, Substrate is an open-source, modular and extensible blockchain-building framework that allows rapid innovation and fast deployment of custom built blockchains. Substrate provides the core building blocks of blockchains built for deployment to Polkadot and Kusama. Our key programming language is Rust, and all of our work is open source.

Parity is looking to hire an exceptional leader to head its efforts in China and Chinese-speaking markets. As General Manager, you’ll be expected to set the internationalisation strategy for the region, oversee its day-to-day operation and develop the team on the ground. This includes uncovering partnership opportunities, defining hiring needs, managing the region’s P&L, and liaising with local industry and regulators. You and your team will be the driving force behind building out the Polkadot, Kusama, and Substrate ecosystems in the region.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the strategic direction of Parity’s efforts in the region across all verticals and stakeholders
• Manage the P&L for the region and develop a strategy to allocate resources effectively to scale Parity’s impact and presence in the region
• Develop strong teams across all functions (developer advocacy, ecosystem development, marketing) by driving hiring, training & mentoring of contributors and leaders in the team
• Oversee the day-to-day operation of the local team and ensure consistent, rapid, and effective execution according to the defined vision and strategy in conjunction with all other Parity teams and departments
• Uncover strategic partners to engage developers, startup and enterprise companies
• Ensure Polkadot is the fastest growing Web3 builder ecosystem in the region
• Build sustainable communities of developers and advocates to further Polkadot’s reach and engagement in the region

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced leader who understands the nuances of China well. The ideal candidate has brought new products/services into the Chinese market before and is comfortable with bringing a high-tech product to a dynamic market and rapidly building the local team around it.

• 2+ years of experience leading the international expansion of products/services in China including P&L ownership
• Built and scaled a multi-functional team to support an expanding user base in China
• Experience working across stakeholders in the technology sector: developers, startups, enterprises, regulators
• Demonstrated consistent, exceptional performance in senior management positions
• Strong work ethic with the confidence to work autonomously
• Ability to demonstrate quick thinking and learn new concepts fast
• Native speaker Chinese, fluent English
• Wide professional network & high reputation in the region/industry

Good to Have

• Experience in the Blockchain industry

Parity is over 40% remote with offices in Berlin, London and soon in Lisbon. This role is a remote position based in Singapore with the intent of developing our presence and eventually bases in the region. Please specify your location in your application.
