Numus is hiring a Web3 Head of Research Engineering
Compensation: $108k - $120k estimated

We are looking for a Head of Research Engineering who will be responsible for driving the technological advancements and infrastructure supporting our research efforts. You will oversee the development and maintenance of cutting-edge research platforms, data systems, and analytics tools. Collaboration with our research and engineering teams is essential to ensure seamless and rapid integration of research findings into production trading strategies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software development, quantitative finance, and previous experience building and managing research-focused engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the technology strategy for our research platform, aligning it with our firm's research agenda and investment objectives
- Lead the research engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable research platforms, data systems, and analytics tools
- Collaborate closely with the quantitative research team to translate research ideas and models into robust production systems
- Develop and maintain analytical tools and frameworks to support research analysis, model evaluation, and strategy development
- Collaborate with data scientists and quantitative researchers to leverage advanced statistical and machine learning techniques
- Recruit and develop a collaborative and innovative research engineering team, providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members
- Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Skill Set and Qualifications:
- Proven experience (8+ years) in software development, with a focus on technology platforms and infrastructure that support a quantitative investment process. Previous experience at a quantitative hedge fund is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. A postgraduate degree in Finance or a quantitative discipline is a plus.
- Deep understanding of quantitative investment strategies, financial markets, and trading technologies
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++ or similar languages commonly used in quantitative finance research
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing research-focused engineering teams
- Experience with data management, data engineering, and data science tools and frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud computing, big data technologies, and distributed computing frameworks
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and collaborate effectively across teams

The salary for this role is anticipated to be between $150,000 and $250,000. This anticipated salary range is based on information as of the time this post was created. This role may also be eligible for additional forms of compensation and benefits, such as a discretionary bonus, health, dental and other benefits plans. Actual compensation will be carefully determined based on a number of candidate factors, including their skills, qualifications and experience.
