We are looking for a Technical Program Manager who bridges the gap between hands-on technical expertise and strategic program delivery. You'll maintain operational awareness by staying close to the systems and occasionally resolving escalated technical issues, while owning cross-functional initiatives that shape how our organization works. This role requires strategic thinking with tactical execution—perfect for someone who has progressed beyond IT operations into program management and wants to architect meaningful solutions while maintaining technical depth.
We have created the Factors of Growth & Impact to help Villagers better measure impact and articulate coaching, feedback, and the rich and rewarding learning that happens while exploring, developing, and mastering the capabilities and contributions within and outside of the Technical Program Manager role:
Technical Skills:
- Own the automation strategy and process architecture across enterprise technology systems, defining the roadmap for operational efficiency through workflow optimization and technical solutions.
- Design and implement automation frameworks, IT workflows, and system integrations in Jira and enterprise platforms that eliminate manual work and transform service delivery for internal teams.
Complexity and Impact of Work:
- Own cross-functional initiatives involving People, Security, and business stakeholders, defining scope, setting timelines, and ensuring delivery from kickoff through completion.
- Own IT audit preparation and compliance frameworks, orchestrating evidence gathering and documentation to support CISO team requirements.
Organizational Knowledge:
- Partner with engineering teams to architect solutions that bridge business needs and technical implementation, ensuring alignment across teams.
- Define process improvements by analyzing support patterns and operational workflows to identify automation opportunities using AI, scripting, and workflow tools; maintain deep operational expertise to inform strategic decisions and guide automation priorities.
Communication and Influence:
- Engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams to define requirements, understand pain points, and align on project priorities.
- Establish documentation standards and communication frameworks that keep projects on track and ensure stakeholders have visibility into progress.
You may be a fit for this role if you have:
- Track record of owning cross-functional technical projects from initiation through delivery, with experience leading engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience architecting and implementing automations in Jira, ServiceNow, or similar platforms, with ability to identify opportunities for AI and workflow optimization.
- Foundation in IT operations (3+ years) with demonstrated progression into strategic program leadership, strong troubleshooting skills, and deep understanding of enterprise systems.
- Experience owning audit processes, establishing compliance evidence frameworks, or working with security teams on documentation requirements.
- Ownership mentality with proven ability to define solutions independently in ambiguous environments, balancing strategic initiatives with operational needs.
Although not a requirement, bonus points if:
- Proficiency in scripting or programming (Python, JavaScript, etc.) to build custom automations beyond platform capabilities.
- Experience with Google Workspace administration, Slack APIs, or other enterprise SaaS tooling.
- Previous work with People/HR teams on employee onboarding, offboarding, or lifecycle automation projects.
- Knowledge of hardware deployment processes, MDM platforms, or physical office IT infrastructure.
- You were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system. :)
Please note: this role will be a hybrid position, with the expectation of working in our New York office 1-2 days a week. Our office is located at 470 Park Ave South, New York, NY 10016.
