Web3 Lead XR Technical Artist

Genies is looking for a versatile and innovative Lead Mixed Reality (XR) Technical Artist to join the R&D team at our Los Angeles headquarters. In this role, you will help strategize and prototype experiences across multiple XR platforms to explore the boundaries of avatar interaction. Your exceptional visual skills and advanced technical abilities will play a pivotal role in crafting immersive and groundbreaking experiences in XR utilizing novel avatar technologies.

What You’ll be Doing:

• Lead the development of XR prototypes using Unity and other real-time platforms suitable for both headwear and mobile devices, including Meta Quest and Apple Vision Pro
• Guide and collaborate with creative and technical leadership to design and build XR experiences that leverage our avatar framework
• Drive innovation and the expansion of real-time avatar interaction tools, ensuring they meet the needs of our users, partners, and in-house studio
• Work alongside highly skilled and passionate artists and engineers to integrate avatars into immersive, interactive environments
• Experiment with emerging technologies like stable diffusion, ML pose-tracking, and novel sensors that can unlock the potential of avatars in spatial computing
• Develop and support tools that can be shared with a growing community of XR developers

What You Should Have:

• Experience leading the development of XR prototypes and related avatar technology
• Expertise in content creation for XR, including shader development, lighting, rigging, and animation
• Thorough understanding of the latest XR technologies, developer kits, and computer vision sensors
• Product experience shipping applications for Quest & Apple platforms
• Proficiency with Unity or Unreal targeting VR and AR platforms for both headwear and mobile phones
• Strong understanding of 3D skeletal systems, state machines, and animation techniques to support embodiment and avatar interaction
• Experience with USD, glTF or other file interchange & composition formats
• 7+ years of experience in senior roles focusing on XR in games, spatial computing, virtual production, or related fields
• Advanced programming/scripting skills in languages such as C#, C++, Objective-C, Swift, Java
• BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, crucial for managing XR development projects and teams

The actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including: professional background, training, transferable skills, work experience, education, location, business and product needs, and market demand. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time employees may also be eligible for equity compensation, in addition to a robust health, wellness, and benefits package.

Starting Salary Range: $165,000 to $270,000 USD
