What you’ll do:
You will be a manager on the Brokerage Operations team at Public, responsible for money movements and fraud mitigation & risk management. The Brokerage Operations team is responsible for many of the critical functions of Public’s business including opening member accounts, managing deposits & withdrawals, managing the universe of securities (e.g., stocks, ETFs, cryptos) available for purchase on the Public platform, and trading on behalf of Public -- among many, many other things.
Your responsibilities will span across both money movements and associated financial risk, with the opportunity to build out and manage a team. You will actively work with your team and other cross-functional partners to identify and implement key areas of exposure, while balancing ensuring a positive user experience. You will establish and track KPIs and OKRs for both money movements and fraud operations. You will be responsible for forecasting trends, alongside associated staffing needs.
On money movements, you will be responsible for improving our deposit and withdrawal processes, optimizing across different funding sources and links to identify and mitigate against points of risk while enabling legitimate users to have a seamless experience.
As the first full-time risk hire, you will be responsible for both fraud detection and fraud operations. You will launch and manage all fraud prevention processes & functions on a day-to-day basis, developing and checking dashboards, investigating suspicious activity, and generally keeping the platform safe from bad actors. Leveraging those findings, you will develop our long-term fraud identification processes and procedures.
You will work with the best-in-class 3rd party vendors to incorporate new signals and technologies. You will work cross-functionally (with product, engineering, finance, legal, and compliance) to find ways to scale and automate your teams’ successful processes.
What we’re looking for:
- Someone process-, detail-, and action-oriented who embodies our company principle of organized speeding. You are passionate about discovering trends and uncovering insights, and look for opportunities to operationalize new processes and procedures to allow your work to scale easily alongside our growing community.
- An agile teammate who is comfortable working independently and operating in a fast-paced environment. You can react quickly and make effective decisions to build a stronger community on Public
- An experienced manager who has successfully managed teams in the past; experience building and scaling teams is a bonus

- You’re curious about the future of payments, business, and investing
- Experience leveraging data and analytics to improve business processes
- You have experience working in Risk / Fraud, Brokerage, or Business
- You enjoy a bit of sleuthing!
