The Chamber’s policy team works to ensure that policy makers are well-informed about the benefits and uses of blockchain technology and digital assets. The team acts as a resource to Congress and the executive branch while proactively advocating for the industry to prevent overly burdensome regulations and to establish clear regulatory guidelines which support adoption and growth.

The Chamber’s industry presence and reputation for thought leadership and policy guidance continues to grow and our policy team is expanding. We are seeking new, experienced team members to lead initiatives in key areas, such as but not limited to, anti-money-laundering compliance and illicit finance, decentralized finance (DeFi), digital identity, payments and cross-border transactions, custody, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and digital assets. We seek a Policy Director to develop and execute campaigns focused on education and regulatory advocacy, policymaker advocacy and engagement. Successful candidate(s) will be highly skilled, nimble, and experienced in U.S. public policy, ideally within the blockchain/digital asset industry.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead key initiatives, Chamber member briefings and select Chamber-led working groups, collaborating with Chamber members to craft policy positions and advocacy strategies.
  • Serve as senior adviser on public policy and research, analyzing significant policy developments in real time, providing analysis and draft responses to a range of policy issues impacting Chamber members.
  • Conduct outreach with policy makers, academia, and industry subject matter experts to advance the Chamber’s mission.
  • Represent the Chamber periodically in public speaking engagements.
  • Develop and execute government official/Capitol Hill engagement strategies, including introducing the Chamber to policymakers and committees and deepening relationships with existing Chamber advocates.
  • Work directly with Congressional staff to provide input, subject matter expertise and legislative language on legislation throughout the proposal cycle.
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in Public Policy or equivalent experience (J.D. preferred).
  • Significant and demonstrated policy experience within or related to Congress and/or regulatory agency(ies).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within the blockchain/digital asset sector.
  • Exceptional writing and public speaking skills and a demonstrated ability to independently produce policy maker responses, long form thought leadership, short-form blogs, member communications.
  • Able to distill complex subject matter into simple and easily digestible concepts for policymakers and industry.
  • Able to travel up to 1 week per month as required.
  • A passionate supporter and advocate of blockchain technology and digital currencies.
  • Mission and results driven, with a proven ability to self-motivate and successfully reprioritize as necessary, with a consistently action-oriented and energetic approach.
  • Able to both lead initiatives and work as part of a team and work as a collaborative team player who can harness the collective ideas of others.
