Let’s go!  Your Mission: As a Senior Anti-Financial Crime Compliance Specialist at Bitpanda, you will be a key contributor to maintaining and enhancing the integrity of our financial ecosystem. You will oversee the onboarding, review, and ongoing monitoring of business customers, ensuring full alignment with Austrian and German regulatory requirements. With your proven experience in KYC for business customers—particularly in banking, payment service providers, or comparable regulated financial institutions under Austrian regulations—you will strengthen our AFC Compliance framework, support sustainable business growth through risk-based decision-making, and act as a subject matter expert for complex customer scenarios. What you’ll do:

Provide expert-level advisory support on the onboarding of complex corporate clients, defining documentation and due diligence requirements in accordance with applicable regulations, with a strong emphasis on Austrian and German AML/CFT laws. Offer risk-based recommendations and ensure consistency with internal policies and external regulatory expectations. Conduct in-depth reviews of business customers, including detailed analysis of corporate structures, ownership chains, and control mechanisms. Validate source of funds and source of wealth information to ensure coherence with the customer’s expected transactional behavior and economic profile. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Compliance, Sales, Operations, and Product to align risk management practices with business goals. Escalate high-risk relationships, red flags, or anomalies to the Anti-Money Laundering Officer (AMLO), preparing well-documented justifications and risk assessments to support decision-making. Review and validate first-line onboarding processes for adherence to internal standards and regulatory obligations. Provide feedback, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to drive consistency and regulatory compliance. Actively contribute to the enhancement of onboarding and monitoring frameworks, including the development of procedural documentation, decisioning guidelines, and control mechanisms that support a sustainable and scalable AFC compliance infrastructure.

Who you are:

Educational Background: You hold a university degree in Law, Business, Economics, Finance, or a comparable field that provides a strong foundation in regulatory compliance and risk management. Professional Experience: You bring proven, hands-on experience in a KYC or Compliance role within a regulated financial institution (e.g. bank, payment service provider, or similar), with a strong focus on the onboarding and review of business customers in line with Austrian AML regulations. You have independently conducted due diligence on complex legal entities, assessed beneficial ownership structures, and applied risk-based approaches in accordance with national regulatory requirements. Your expertise enables you to confidently interpret legal and regulatory expectations and ensure their effective application in operational processes. Experience with the German AML/CFT framework is a plus. Technical & Analytical Competence: you are capable of interpreting and assessing structured data to support compliance decisions and investigations. Experience in extracting and analyzing data using Snowflake SQL is a strong advantage and enables you to translate data insights into risk indicators and operational improvements. Language Proficiency: You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in German is a significant asset. Additional European languages such as French, Italian, or Spanish are considered a plus. What’s in it for you
