Web3 Senior Associate, Financial Risk

Your Mission:

Join our team as a junior Risk Manager supporting Financial Risk Management (FRM) to identify, assess, monitor and treat Credit/Counterparty Risk and Market Risk. You will be responsible for operating Bitpanda’s various FRM models, setting and advising risk exposure limits, and helping build out new ways to keep crypto assets safe.

You have an analytical mind, with a passion for crypto assets. Through your reporting and analysis you will challenge management to think differently about risk, becoming a key advisor to our business and operations teams.

You will report to the FRM lead, becoming a key part of Bitpanda’s growing Group Risk Management Team.

What you’ll do:

• Operate and improve existing FRM models in order to set risk limits for products offered by Bitpanda, many of which are unique to the crypto industry.
• Conduct ad-hoc (credit/market risk) analysis and reporting for senior management, consistently solving and adapting to problems.
• Advise risk owners on assessment and risk treatment of identified risks. Provide data driven analysis of risk topics, empowering quantified risk based decision making from management.
• Refine traditional financial risk management approaches and pioneer the establishment of the gold standard in risk management within the cryptocurrency industry.
• Act as the point of contact for Bitpanda’s operational teams in respect to risk management. Helping teams to identify, treat, monitor and report risks.

Who you are:

• A keen interest in crypto assets from a technical and market dynamics perspective.
• Previous experience in risk management with a focus in credit or liquidity risk
• Strong python skills appropriate for developing and maintaining models, with a working understanding of SQL data manipulation a bonus.
• A self-starter who’s able to operate in an ever-changing environment. Someone who’s able to consistently contribute ideas and demonstrate ownership.
• Someone who takes pride in bringing risk-management topics to life, embedding risk management practices which are high output, low friction.
