Web3 Senior Database/DataOps Engineer

What you’ll do:

On our team, you will be in the middle of it all – implementing functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer.

You’ll be responsible for taking our data platforms to the next level. This includes managing, turning, and improving our rdbms, dynamo, snowflake, ETL jobs, as well as building out new tech for future growth. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker. At Public, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Devops, Data, and Application Engineering and you will work closely with those teams in all phases of product life cycle, from ideation through building, deploying and continual improvement and evolution.

  • Manage and build out highly available, scalable, and secure data platforms
  • Contribute to the architecture of our data platforms and define our best practices
  • Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
  • Identify opportunities for improvement both in existing and new systems
  • Improve monitoring and alerting capabilities
  • Refine and improve disaster recovery plan for the data platforms
  • Communicate with project leads, product managers and other software developers
  • Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team
  • Provide guidance to application teams on data model design for complex data sets

Who you are:

  • 8+ years managing RDBMS such as mysql, postgresql
  • 2+ years experience managing data infrastructure as code with tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
  • 2+ years experience managing AWS cloud data infrastructure including Aurora, DynamoDb, S3
  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in a technical field, but we understand great engineers come from all sorts of different backgrounds and also consider relevant work experience
  • Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and ETL technology such as Snowflake, 5tran, Glue, etc.
  • Expert tuning and optimizing rdbms performance as well as queries
  • Experience with scripting using shell scripts, python, etc
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done
  • Strong sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion

Bonus Points:

  • Experience scaling highly available, mission critical systems
  • Experience in fintech space, especially trading related
  • Experience with Agile
