Web3 Senior DeFi Researcher

We are an interdisciplinary team that focuses heavily on collaboration and curiosity. Because we are fully remote, we care more about output and outcomes than how much time is spent. We care more about doing things well than who gets the credit.

The research team at Thrackle aims to frame problems in DeFi in a rigorous manner and then to solve or make incremental progress with these problems using mathematics and simulations. Workflows are aligned with the standard research process; the team works through market research, mechanism ingestion and data analysis (when relevant), and problem formulation. Then, an iterative cycle between pen and paper mathematics and simulation building often occurs. As we continue to expand our offerings of on-chain solutions, we are looking for researchers that have also bridged the gap between theory and practice with respect to liquidity solutions.

Responsibilities • Presenting insights from academic and industry literature in the DeFi space to other researchers • Collaborating with other researchers to design liquidity mechanisms • Stress testing our mechanisms using our simulation framework • Architecting and coding simulation environments and data validation schemes that are informed by the current market landscape • Communicating with engineers about how to translate our designs into production level code • Communicating with business development about the upstream implications of our liquidity mechanisms

Qualifications • 3+ years research experience in a professional setting • The ability to understand and provide deep insights concerning mathematical research in the space of decentralized finance. • Knowledge of the current DeFi landscape (market making protocols, lending protocols, etc.) for the major EVM based chains • Familiarity with Solidity smart contracts involved in existing automated market makers • Knowledge of the ABM landscape in both software and mathematical contexts • PhD level knowledge of foundational subjects in mathematics and/or computer science: e.g. linear algebra, multivariable calculus, probability theory, and algorithms (self-taught candidates will be enthusiastically considered) • Fluency in Python or potentially other programming languages • Data analysis skills • Previous blockchain AMM development experience is a bonus
