Web3 Validator Relations Lead

Validator nodes are high-end computers running specialized software which help securely process any activity taking place on the Solana network. A large group of people and companies independently operate validators in many countries around the world. There are nearly one thousand validators online today, which collectively form and propagate the Solana network.

The Validator Relations Lead will play a key role in the continued growth of the Solana network. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between new and existing validator communities, the Solana Foundation and core development teams with the goal of empowering as many people as possible to run high-quality validator infrastructure all over the world.

The Validator Relations Lead will be expected to understand in depth the technical, operational and financial considerations of running Solana infrastructure, and create and curate documentation and workflows to pass this knowledge on to the Solana community. The ability to distill complex topics into digestible written content is essential. The person in this role should be comfortable regularly engaging with a diverse and passionate community through various online platforms, social media, in writing, video chat, or in person.

This is a very broad role with lots of room for growth. Thousands of validators, infrastructure operators and service providers are expected to come online on the Solana network in the near term. The successful candidate will work with the Solana Foundation team to prepare for this growth and plan new programs and incentive structures to most efficiently and securely scale the network around the world.

Responsibilities:

• Validator Education/Resource Building
• Clean up and expand official docs.solana.com validator documentation
• Create narrative-driven tutorials/educational walk-through content
• Curate official and community-created resources and way-finding on official Solana validator landing pages
• Help potential/current validators discover Solana Foundation programs

• Community Support
• Monitor/support on Discord and other social media platforms (Twitter, reddit, etc) for validator and infrastructure specific questions.
• Identify pain points for validators and alleviate them through better content and community knowledge-building. Act as primary PoC to find the right team member or document for community questions.
• Manage validator-facing community moderators

• Network growth/planning
• Work Solana Foundation’s product, marketing and BD teams to help model and plan for continued phases of growth and expansion.
• Use community needs and feedback to help drive feature roadmap for validator client software

Valuable Experience:

Technical:

• Knowledge of DevOps/system administration/network infrastructure is a plus
• Experience with Linux systems
• Very comfortable using command line tools and utilities
• Knowledge of blockchain infrastructure, specifically proof of stake, more specifically Solana blockchain
• Huge plus if you’ve actually run a validator on any proof of stake network

Non Technical:

• This is a customer/community facing role. Excited to interact with lots of people from all over the world.
• Excellent spoken and written English
• Proven ability to create technical content in a clear manner
• A desire to learn a lot and work in an incredibly fast-paced industry is essential
