Web3 Vice President, Corporate Development

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Ripple is looking for a Corporate Development professional to help build and lead a team to pursue a range of opportunities including acquisitions, strategic investments and joint ventures that accelerate the development and adoption of Ripple’s breakthrough crypto based solutions. Ideal candidates will have a strong mix of strategic thinking, the ability to engage with leaders within Ripple and throughout the global ecosystem, an understanding of finance and accounting, and experience or strong interest in crypto and/or fintech.

As Vice President of Corporate Development, you will help shape and execute Ripple’s strategy building our leadership position in the crypto technologies. You will partner with business units and corporate leaders globally to identify trends that accelerate the development of Ripple’s business and transform how the world moves value. You will work with Ripple’s leaders to determine whether Ripple should buy, build or partner in focus areas and then help to execute on these plans by defining market landscapes, creating relationships with market participants to source strategic opportunities. You will structure, negotiate, and execute strategic investments, acquisitions, joint ventures or divestitures for all of our businesses and geographies.

You will help manage our venture portfolio. You will help monitor and provide oversight of the investments and evaluate follow-on investment opportunities. You will also help us to communicate with portfolio companies and funds to surface and share insights and areas to partner.

You will help manage our relationships with the investment community helping us to access capital efficiently and increase the liquidity of our shares.

You will be a key partner to the global business unit leaders across all divisions.

The position may be San Francisco located or remote.


WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Advance Ripple’s ability to deliver and grow breakthrough crypto solutions through identification, assessment and execution of potential mergers, acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, partnerships and divestitures.

Develop unique perspectives on key categories and companies in the crypto ecosystem, and curate related research and market intelligence, identifying critical shifts and evolving trends and communicate their implications to be at the forefront of new developments.

  • Idea Generation
    • Collaborate internally and externally to surface and develop perspectives on the crypto ecosystem surface in a progressive, systematic and routine way
    • Build relationships with business unit and corporate leaders to create alignment on where to focus corporate development efforts to advance Ripple’s business
    • Partner with business leaders before, during and after acquisition/investment processes to ensure the deals are strategic, fit with the forward-looking business plans

  • Sourcing
    • Establish and lead a robust and comprehensive process to identify and evaluate potential opportunities n a way that surfaces quality actionable opportunities
    • Manage Ripple’s relationships with investment banking, venture firms and other industry players
  • Deal Execution
    • Define success for a project and devise a plan to achieve it with a timeline, workstreams, owners, milestones and stage gates.
    • Lead cross-functional teams in developing acquisition and investment business case analyses and executing and interfacing with finance, accounting, tax, legal, compliance, business, product, engineering, people and other departments at Ripple
    • Manage key deliverables including creating analyses, overseeing execution and identifying next steps in process flow
  • Investment Oversight
    • Serve as the primary contact for monitoring investment performance and follow-on investment opportunities
    • Create summaries and presentation materials to describe investments and communicate recommendations to senior business leaders and other internal stakeholders for reporting and presentation purposes

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

A deal savvy, high energy, proactive, optimistic, humble yet confident, ambitious, impatient and collaborative leader and team member

  • 15+ years of experience ideally split between an investment bank, consulting firm, venture or private equity firm and a high-tech start-up in corporate strategy or corporate development roles
  • Experience sourcing and structuring investments, acquisitions and strategic partnerships in support of business leaders
  • Experience working with startup management teams
  • Ability to handle multiple projects each with multiple workstreams simultaneously with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills with a team-oriented and collaborative approach to work including a track record of managing and developing people
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams with strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and verbal and written communication abilities
  • Excellent presentation skills able to clearly communicate compelling messages, including strong oral and writing capabilities
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding environment with highly motivated and driven professionals
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for payments, financial services or crypto industries a plus
  • Global business experience preferred
