Drift is a leading derivatives exchange on Solana. Our mission is to bring state-of-the-art trader-centric experience from centralized exchanges on-chain.
The Drift team is seeking a General Counsel to be a crucial partner to our product and business team and facilitate business opportunities for the company. As our General Counsel, it will be your responsibility to ensure that we do the right thing and focus on long-term impact. You will develop legal guidance and strategy that mitigate the company’s legal and regulatory risks, and help the company thrive in a challenging environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Set the overall legal strategy and manage all legal matters for the company;
- Advise and support the team on strategic & complex regulatory and business issues in the US and internationally;
- Select, engage and manage outside counsel;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on issues related to product development, human resources, marketing and business partnerships;
- Create, develop and implement company-wide policies, procedures and standard agreements;
- Oversee communication strategies and product roll outs;
- Design the governance token and roadmap to DAO;I’m
- Monitor emerging legislation and regulation, and advise the company of regulatory developments;
- Educate policy makers on crypto industry development and advocate for crypto friendly policy changes.
Requirements
- Currently licensed with 5+ years of legal experience, and preferably in-house experience as well.
- You have substantial expertise working with product teams in the crypto and fintech industry, specifically teams building protocols, DeFi, DAOs, NFTs, and other related products.
- A strong interest in digital currency and blockchain technology.
- Experience providing legal thought leadership in novel areas.
- Comfortable challenging the status quo and preconceived notions of what is possible as well as working in areas where regulation is still evolving.
- Proven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
You will be working directly with the founding team to pave the legal and product roadmap for Drift.
