Title: VP, Engineering

Overview: Interested in joining a fast-growing Series B startup looking to change the crypto payments industry. We are a well-funded startup looking to hire a VP, Engineering, reporting into the CTO. The company has just over 45 employees and was recently valued at over $1Bn in its most recent round raised in summer 2021. We are growing quickly and looking to hire a VP, Engineering, who can help scale and grow our engineering team.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure that teams are sufficiently resourced to deliver the products
• Consider team composition and morale around scope
• Continuously monitor progress on each project
• Provide technical documentation for new employees
• Manage the career paths for ICs and Managers, build new leaders
• Identify key areas of growth and build teams to address business goals
• Coordinate closely with other departments to meet business goals:
• Product to scope reasonable work and deadlines
• Finance to set, understand, and adhere to budget
• Operations to ensure team has adequate equipment and support
• Talent to facilitate hiring
• Monitor the health of the engineers and the codebase
• Set and track objectives and key metrics for the eng department
• Strategic planning for technical initiatives
• Report any failures to the CEO / CPO
• Define planning methodology for engineering
• Coordinate closely with the CEO to ensure vision is researched and implemented
• Work with our remote engineering team to develop and implement the product roadmap
• Develop and implement an appropriate technical and data architecture to ensure a scalable, extensible, secure and flexible platform
• Lead the design and development of the internal data pipeline processes for customer and industry data management
• Lead the deployment and support of software into the cloud production environment
• Be a thought leader and subject matter expert in ensuring the company uses the latest technologies
• Hire, onboard, manage teams across multiple stacks and disciplines

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a VP Engineering / Head of Engineering / Experience Scaling Engineering Organizations
• Experience managing a team of 20 to 100+ engineers (front end, back end and full stack) ideal
• Strong hands on coding experience
• Experience with DevOps a big plus
• Crypto experience a plus
• Masters in Computer Science or related
• Hands on experience with technologies including Javascript, React, Java, Python.

Location: The office is based out of San Francisco, but remote candidates will be considered.
