About The Role
This is your chance to have a critical impact at a dynamic gaming company in the midst of an exciting globalization journey. You'll be joining a recently established global legal team that is in growth mode. Our team manages and leads cutting-edge, complex matters across North America, Europe and Asia (ex-China).
We are looking for a talented Senior Privacy Counsel to build and manage NetEase’s global (ex-China) privacy program. This position will report to the VP, Head of Privacy.
Location: Remote, U.S
Responsibilities:
- Establish and further the vision, strategy, and direction for all data protection and privacy projects and programs for our global (ex-China) businesses.
- Build, optimize, and implement data protection and privacy processes and programs, including but not limited to, incident response, third party vendor management, data governance, and privacy and commitment review.
- Work closely with executive management, wholly owned studios, technology development and operations and other cross-functional teams to implement privacy by design and privacy by default.
- Create and deliver data protection and privacy trainings and communications to our employees.
- Act as a subject matter expert in children’s privacy, dark patterns, AI, and biometrics.
- Collaborate and coordinate with outside counsel.
- Work across different disciplines, cultures, and time zones.
- Take on other relevant duties as assigned and commensurate with your ability.

Requirements:
- J.D. and membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
- 7+ years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house with 4+ years of focus on privacy.
- Strong knowledge of global privacy laws in the US, Canada, EU, Japan, and Korea.
- Familiarity or interest in gaming, AR/VR, Web3, metaverse and the interactive entertainment industry in general.
