SERV is the first L1 blockchain that facilitates the sharing, automation, and storage of private data and credentials through a hybrid public-private trust exchange. Our ecosystem is built to execute identity verification while safeguarding user privacy. By empowering users of all stripes - private organizations, institutional actors, and individuals - to decide and materialize for themselves what constitutes trust in a specific P2P interaction, SERV’s platform opens up the possibility horizon for dApps to perform actions previously impossible.

The Role

We are looking for a Core Developer to join our team. We are building on the Substrate framework, so familiarity with – and passion for – the relevant tech stack is key. You will be involved at all stages of the development lifecycle for the SERV protocol, with a focus on blockchain operations optimization for credentialing and identity-building use-cases.

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Build and customize new protocol features in Rust
  • Develop new distributed systems tests and frameworks
  • Contribute to protocol and design specifications, as well as more generally our long-term technical and product strategy
  • Work with members of the community to resolve issues, generate new ideas, and source additional contributors

We are tackling some extremely complex problems, which will put to good use your formidable skills and imagination in creating solutions that others have not seen before.

Requirements

You are a systems engineer with good knowledge of Layer 1 protocols and a passion for blockchain technologies. You enjoy working to a high standard with urgency, and you write code that is clean, performant, and maintainable. You appreciate the importance of careful design choices and can anticipate the impact of code changes on wider system behavior.

You also have:
  • At least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong programming skills in a low-level language such as C++, Rust, or Go - ideally 2+ years with Rust
  • Experience with network, concurrent, and distributed programming/debugging
  • Good knowledge and credible experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Credentialing / verified credentials, DID, DIDComm, credential agents
    • Communication and exchange protocols between interconnected systems; P2P messaging
    • Techniques to improve scalability and reduce block times, such as sharding
    • Strengthening privacy through cryptography
Nice to Haves
  • In-depth knowledge of distributed systems theory obtained from coursework or self-study
  • Smart contract programming experience using Rust and Web3 APIs

We are headquartered in Miami, FL, and will give preference to candidates who can be based locally (whether now or willing to relocate).
