We are looking for Software Engineers with an interest in education or educational experience to support our educational programs worldwide. As a member of a small team of talented engineers, you will create and publish engaging content to attract, teach and delight our community of developers, as well as advocate and represent their voice internally.

In this learning support role, you’ll create a compelling vision for your students and use your skills and experience to help understand and envision big things together. While we are currently delivering various certifications through the NEAR Certified family of programs, your imagination is the limit when it comes to new applications and tools for learning to expand our reach to millions.

We’re passionate about enabling community-driven innovation to benefit people worldwide and living to our NEAR ecosystem values. This role is your unique chance to directly inspire developers to build massively impactful apps on a decentralized web.

You will:

  • Conceive, design and develop software in support of educational programs that build awareness and increase the number of successful developers launching their apps on our sharded, proof-of-stake public blockchain.
  • Play the role of product owner for one or more web properties as they mature and until they are handed off to the ecosystem for long term maintenance.
  • Provide mentorship, code reviews and technical guidance to others on the team
  • Support the efforts of scaling our developer funnel through engagement with world-class developers around the web.
  • Contribute to team efforts to design and deliver exciting content, workshops, meetups, and focus sessions designed to help developers evaluate our platform and learn how to contribute to community-driven innovation.
  • Play a pivotal role in the long-term success of our developers by collaborating with engineering, product and security peers to synthesize feedback gathered from our developer community.
  • Establish yourself as a trusted technical peer and community advocate.
  • Grow a team of community contributors around you as well as help your direct reports build their identity and credibility.

You are:

  • An experienced software engineer with an interest in education and at least 5 years professional development experience.
  • Experienced with communities of contributors in a credible way especially in opens source projects.
  • Experienced with building and scaling developer relations, technical advocacy or community management functions in emerging and established global technologies and markets.
  • Able to build plans out of chaos, manage multiple work streams, effectively set expectations among stakeholders, and prioritize your work from a long list.
  • Creative and passionate about generating grass-roots attention, support and adoption of developer-oriented products from opinion makers and technologists in multiple developer communities.
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment

Your technical background includes:

  • Production quality web application development in a team environment using modern frontend JavaScript frameworks, tools and build systems.
  • Strictly-typed programming languages (Rust, C++, TypeScript, Haskell)
  • Preferably, some experience in web3 (blockchain) given new primitives of identity and money in an adversarial environment and familiarity with blockchain projects outside of the NEAR ecosystem (Ethereum, Algorand, Solana, etc.)

We value:

    1. ECOSYSTEM-FIRST: always put the health and success of the ecosystem above any individual's interest.
    2. OPENNESS: operate transparently and consistently share knowledge to build open communities.
    3. PRAGMATISM OVER PERFECTION: find the right solution not the ideal solution and beat dogmatism by openly considering all ideas.
    4. MAKE IT FEEL SIMPLE: strive to make the complex feel simple so the technology is accessible to all.
    5. GROW CONSTANTLY: learn, improve and fail productively so the project and community are always becoming more effective.

About the NEAR Foundation

The NEAR Foundation is a nonprofit, non-beneficiary foundation based in Switzerland which supports community-driven innovation and the Open Web with a specific focus on the NEAR platform. The Foundation distributes grant funding into the NEAR ecosystem, coordinates governance among participants, educates people about the protocol and ensures that relationships among the community members are as strong and sustainable as the apps they build. It seeks to combine the inclusive care of a community-driven NGO with the at-scale effectiveness of a Silicon Valley startup.
