About the Team:
The Risk function at Okcoin is responsible for the overall risk and fraud prevention at the company. We’re a team of risk-minded problem solvers who advise the business on the company’s regulatory obligations and enterprise risk. We’re also deeply committed to moving the needle on risk standards for the crypto industry, building products in a compliant way, and protecting the company from financial, regulatory, and reputational risks. Our team consists of seasoned risk professionals who are based across our global offices.
About the Opportunity:
The Chargeback Specialist will perform all duties chargebacks and disputes resulting from card payments including, but not limited to the review of customer transactions, investigating fraud claims initiated by customers and/or financial institutions, identifying potential card fraud, friendly fraud, and other fraud types that may impact business growth. This position will coordinate in-house with the Fraud Investigation team, Risk Portfolio, Finance, Customer Service department as well as banks and payment processors to fight payment disputes and mitigate loss.
Requires detailed online card payments experience analytical skills, and documentation of actions taken including phone calls to cardholders, and others as appropriate. This position will work under the direct supervision of our Risk Manager.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Handle all aspects of the dispute process in compliance with Visa/MasterCard, Reg E and /or Reg Z guidelines, and other applicable federal and state rules and regulations;
- Develop chargeback response strategies and gather the evidence required to fight chargebacks and/or resolving of dispute inquiries from cardholders, financial institutions, merchants, and internal departments;
- Make outbound contacts to cardholders, financial institutions, and merchants to further investigate transaction disputes, account take-over, identity theft, fraudulent applications etc
- Exercise sound judgment to escalate issues to the appropriate resource when unable to resolve the problem in a reasonable amount of time;
- Apply banks, card schemes, industry regulations, and practices in resolving disputes;
- Aggregate and analyze statistical data on cards and chargebacks in identifying patterns and working with the Risk team to develop strategies needed to tackle fraud trends;
- Develop internal procedures governing chargeback processing and evidence submission;
- Partner with internal groups and external banking institutions to resolve issues;
- Collaborate with our Customer Support team to research and respond to dispute-related customer inquiries and issues.
What We Look For In You:
- 5+ years of experience in chargeback dispute resolution and risk management;
- 3+ years of experience in the US and international online card payments;
- Bachelor in Finance, accounting, economics, or related fields;
- Up-to-date practical knowledge of current Visa and MasterCard rules and regulations, federal and state regulations, and internal procedures relating to card payments and chargeback dispute processing.
- Able to articulate issues, propose solutions, and SOPs design;
- Ability to work efficiently with payment processors and internal payment operations teams;
- Able to take initiative, and work independently with little supervision;
- Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Nice to Haves:
- Crypto/Blockchain experience;
- Relevant Fraud certifications e.g. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), etc.
