Director, Global Payroll
Due to the growth of Ripple, we are looking for a talented Payroll Director to lead our Company’s global payroll activities. The right individual will lead the development of scalable processes, oversee payroll systems environment and ensure timely and accurate global payroll submission and reporting. Ripple’s technology is new and cutting edge which leads to complexities in our compensation and reporting.
This role is part of our finance team and reports into the Senior Director, Financial Operations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience leading a payroll team in a complex and dynamic environment and will be able to leverage prior US and Global payroll experience. To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to be organized and deadline driven, ensuring recurring assignments are handled on a timely basis while contributing to special cross-functional projects and addressing unusual developments. This position requires a highly motivated professional with strong drive and skillset to lead the payroll team with compliance and improvement initiatives.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead US and international payroll with a focus on implementing improvements and automating processes
- Lead and manage the day to day global payroll activities ensuring accurate & timely processing in compliance with Company's policies and local tax and labor regulations
- Review and approve all payroll related transactions
- Ensure timely filings with appropriate government authorities
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of three
- Lead the year-end payroll activities globally
- Partner with the global tax and stock administration teams on global mobility activities
- Maintain a complete understanding of all US federal/state wage and hour laws related to payroll including garnishments, benefits, leave of absence, 401k, FSA and taxes
- Optimize standard procedures for payroll processing, ensuring strong internal controls and segregation of duties.
- Partner with the HR Operations team to onboard Workday and ADP Celergo, with global payroll go-live planned for Q1’2023
- Serve as a subject matter expert to employees and cross-functional partners, ensuring issues are resolved timely
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- BS degree or equivalent payroll experience; CPP preferred
- 10+ years work experience including multi state and international payroll and taxes, including global mobility taxes
- 5+ years of managerial experience
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now, Workday, and/or other payroll systems
- Ability to lead a team and manage the team’s workload in a SOX compliant environment
- Experience onboarding new payroll solutions globally
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate across departments and at all levels
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions to complex or non-standard situations
- Strong work ethic and ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality
- Experience with Payrolls larger than 1,000 employees
- Comfortable leading teams through ambiguity and be a champion of change
- Problem solving and decision-making capacity in a high growth environment
- High emotional intelligence, ability to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels within and outside of finance
- Willing to “roll-up the sleeves” in order to accomplish all necessary tasks
