Web3 Director of Credit Underwriting

BlockFi is looking for aDirector of Credit Underwriting (Asia) to join our growing team!

About the Role

We’re looking for a Director of Credit Underwriting (Asia) to help us launch into our next phase of growth. You’ll join our Credit Underwriting team, collaborating with trading, structuring and sales.

Your Mission:

• Actively manage credit risk/counterparty exposure and assess credit limit to our institutional and private clients
• Conduct due diligence and assess credit worthiness of counterpartiesand provide feedbacks on client selection in the screening process
• Provide an independent credit risk opinion and make recommendations for credit approvals and escalations of any issues
• Review business opportunities being presented by the sales/trading/structuring, and provide feedbacks on structure and terms proposed
• Collaborate with multiple areas of the firm including but not limited to structuring, trading and sales teams, legal, and market risk
• Enhance credit risk policies and tools
• Provide credit input for negotiations of client loan agreements or derivative trading agreements

Your Expertise:

• University degree in finance or a relevant quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, or engineering. Masters/MBAs/Certifications such as CFA, CPA, CAIA are a plus.
• Background in banking and credit risk management
• In-depth financial analysis and modeling skills
• Understanding of wide variety of financial products including structured products and derivatives
• High degree of familiarity professionally or personally with cryptocurrency, blockchain, and ability to move between TradFi, CeFi, and DeFi concepts seamlessly; cryptocurrency or blockchain certifications would be looked upon favorably
• Familiarity with different classes of institutional clients. Experience with hedge funds and proprietary trading firms is preferred
• 10+ years of relevant experience including analytical and credit roles at a financial institution
• Credit investing or buy-side experience are both a plus - preference for first line structuring and underwriting experience over second line review and oversight experience
• Enthusiasm about BlockFi’s products and business model
• Inclusive team player attitude and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients as well as internal stakeholders
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace is required. Experience with data analytics and programing skills are a plus.
