Due to rapid and continued growth, Roofstock is looking for a director of fund accounting to join our finance team.  Reporting to the VP Controller, this individual will be responsible for building and managing accounting processes for our fractionalized share and blockchain programs.  Our ideal candidate will have experience with fund accounting and reporting.  He or she will be comfortable with setting up new processes, engaging business owners and working with tax and audit professionals.  We are looking for those that have the ability to be very hands on initially, rolling up their sleeves to implement systems and processes.    

What You Will Do:

    • Prepare and review the annual fund financial statements in accordance with US GAAP  
    • Oversee and coordinate the fund’s annual audit process including managing relationships with external auditors 
    • Oversee and coordinate annual tax reporting requirements, partnering with outside preparers 
    • Create a process to ensure that periodic valuations are completed in a timely manner, including review and approval 
    • Oversee corporate compliance and reporting for all fund entities, including quarterly Reit reporting 
    • Review and approve trial balances, investor allocations and investor capital account statements on monthly basis and in accordance with quarterly reporting requirements 
    • Review and approve quarterly management fee & other fee calculations 
    • Create a process for periodic investor distributions and notification 
    • Participate and contribute to discovery sessions around blockchain   
    • Build and develop a strong relationship with business teams 

What You Will Bring With You:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required 
    • CPA or MBA is preferred 
    • 7-10 years of accounting experience preferably with a combination of public accounting and industry 
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize assignments and deliver accurate work 
    • Ability to handle large sets of data easily 
    • Engaging and strong communication skills 
    • Team player with a positive attitude, willingness to roll up one's sleeves and get the job done, and a desire to work in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment 
    • Strong desire to learn new and innovative products and processes 
    • Knowledge of Yardi and NetSuite is preferred
