Web3 Director of Vendor Management & Procurement

Location: ON Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Summary

The position is responsible for leading Figment’s vendor management and procurement activities and capabilities as well as strategic vision and direction. Reporting directly to our CISO, you will be responsible for driving high-level strategic conversations and decisions with vendors. In this role, you have a direct impact on Figment’s ability to source, select and manage the relationships with industry leading partners and vendors. You must be comfortable with handling multiple projects, priorities while ensuring expectations are managed and met. You will also have the opportunity to manage a team of talented individuals, grow their skills through coaching and leadership as well as develop their career growth within the organization.

What you will be doing

  • Own and manage all things Vendor Relations, Procurement and Inventory
  • Being internal point of contact for vendors and nurturing relationships over time
  • Working with internal stakeholders to ensure vendors meet our needs and performance standards
  • Apply effective strategic sourcing and negotiation strategies
  • Monitor vendor performance, deliverables and ensure contractual obligations are met
  • Analyze pricing, vendor stability, and proposals to ensure a fair, ethical and level playing field
  • Advise on costs, risks and business impacts of decisions
  • Lead and mentor and grow a team of Procurement Specialists
  • Act as a coach for team members, with a strong sense of empathy and transparency
  • Participate in regular review meetings with cross-functional teams to pulse check on vendor performance
  • Participate in strategic meetings with vendors and business leaders to ensure execution of defined strategies
  • Actively seek ways to streamline business processes; research and provide information on industry category trends and best practices
  • Lead reporting, through data analytics dashboards and metrics

What you will bring to the team

  • Proven track record of vendor relationship management, with at least 5+ years of experience
  • Clear understanding of licensing models, budget allocation and management
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor a team, demonstrating leadership and empathy
  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build and nurture relationships
  • Being keen to solve problems, juggle multiple priorities and drive projects autonomously
  • A strong sense of responsibility in maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information

Types of vendors you will be dealing with

  • Public cloud providers, such as AWS and GCP
  • A variety of SaaS tools and products
  • Application virtualization tools
  • Experience in dealing with licensing model
  • Financial systems

Experience managing these types of vendors will be key in this role!
