About the Role
We are looking for an exceptional Head of Risk who will lead our enterprise risk management program and oversee Risk Management, Internal Audit, including BSA/OFA reporting, and Vendor Management. As Figure’s Head of Risk, you will develop, implement, execute, and lead the risk mitigation strategies and frameworks, and interact with vendors and teams to develop and deploy effective and successful financial products. This role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining adequate internal controls and will execute the risk management strategies to support Figure's short and long term goals.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development and execution of the Figure’s enterprise risk and risk appetite framework and related processes to achieve the organization's short and long term strategic, financial and operational goals.
- Accountable for the leadership, innovation and governance of the organization's operational and strategic risks within the current environment, and in anticipation of changes to the environment; particular emphasis on asset liability management risks, credit risks, information security risks, and regulatory risks.
- Ensures Figure's risk management policies and risk strategies are in compliance with applicable regulations, rating agency standards, and strategic imperatives of the organization.
- Lead the development and implementation of an annual audit plan based upon an enterprise risk assessment to ensure Figure is following written policies, standards and procedures.
- Ensures a comprehensive quality assurance oversight program is in place to support the review and quality of commercial, mortgage and consumer loans.
- Accountable for Figure’s third party vendor management program and vendor due diligence, insurance and bond coverage appropriate for the organization, contract review and litigation, information and fraud mitigation and prevention program.
- Collaborate with Product, Data and other teams in the creation of new products and product design and infrastructure development
- Design and execute risk mitigation strategies, and establish Figure’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework
What We Look For
- 10+ years of Risk Management experience with increasing responsibilities for multi-faceted direction and planning with a preference for a background in FinTech team leadership
- Strong knowledge of Federal and state banking regulations pertaining to risk management, auditing, regulatory reporting, compliance, and security
- Familiarity with lending in international markets is a big plus
- Strong work ethic, with mature leadership and communication skills to accomplish time-sensitive projects in a team environment
- Willingness and ability to make strategic decisions, accept responsibility, and possesses the desire and capability of motivating and directing the activities of others
- Able to succeed in a fast pace tech start-up; organizational agility and managing and dealing with ambiguity
- Bachelor's (Master's preferred) degree (U.S. or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Finance or a related field
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategies into operational objectives and projects
