Finance Manager
Toku enables companies of any size to compliantly compensate their employees with any asset, through any payment rail, anywhere in the world.
Toku is a global employment and payroll infrastructure for token compensation. We power stablecoin and token payroll for some of the largest companies in crypto, integrating with custody providers, enterprise HR/payroll systems, and blockchain networks across 100+ countries. We are a small team that ships fast, measures progress daily, and builds with AI agents as a default.
About the Role
We are hiring a Finance Manager to coordinate the compliance and reporting activities of the finance team. Reporting to the Finance Controller, you will run the rhythm of statutory filings, monthly reporting, and audit coordination across Toku's global entity network, working through existing team members and external consultants rather than doing everything yourself.
This is a coordination-heavy role. You will own the compliance calendar, the reporting calendar, the consultant relationships, and the cadence that keeps workstreams on track. You will be the person who knows, at any given moment, what is filed, what is pending, what is at risk, and what needs to be escalated.
Key Responsibilities: Compliance
-
Own the compliance calendar: Maintain the master covering every entity, every filing obligation, every deadline, and every consultant. Drive the weekly review cycle with the team and escalate at-risk items before they become overdue.
-
Coordinate global VAT filings: Make sure monthly and quarterly VAT returns are filed across all non-US entities. Liaise with local consultants, ensure data is provided on time, review returns before filing, and chase overdue items.
-
Coordinate US state tax compliance: Oversee state-level payroll tax returns, franchise tax filings, and annual reports across the state registrations.
-
Coordinate annual filings: Make sure annual reports, director filings, KYC renewals, registered agent and office renewals happen across the global entity base.
-
Coordinate direct tax compliance: Oversee CIT returns, CIT advance tax payments, TDS filings, TRC applications, 1099 filings, and FBAR reporting.
-
Manage consultants and LPPs: Own external relationships with local consultants and auditors. Review engagement letters, negotiate fees, track SLA performance, resolve disputes, and recommend changes when providers underdeliver.
-
Entity lifecycle: Coordinate new entity incorporations, closures, share transfers, and org chart changes. Line up nominee director sign-offs, bank account openings, and initial registrations.
-
Regulatory monitoring: Track changes in tax, employment, and corporate law across operational jurisdictions. Update internal documentation, flag operational and product impacts, and make sure the team adjusts processes accordingly.
-
Transfer pricing: Coordinate transfer pricing documentation and filings across jurisdictions, working with external TP advisors. Make sure intercompany arrangements, master files, local files, and country-by-country reporting obligations are prepared and filed on time. Keep documentation aligned with actual intercompany flows and flag changes in TP regulations that affect the group.
Key Responsibilities: Reporting
-
Statutory financial statements: Coordinate the preparation and filing of annual financial statements across jurisdictions. Line up local consultants, manage local GAAP adjustments, and track filing deadlines.
-
Monthly Compliance & Reporting Report: Produce a monthly report for executive leadership covering filing status across entities, overdue items, upcoming deadlines, completed filings, regulatory changes, close status, and risk flags.
-
Process and automation: Continuously improve the compliance and reporting workflows. Identify manual work that can be automated (we use Claude, n8n, and internal skills) and partner with the Controller to prioritise system improvements.
Who You Are
-
You have a finance or business degree.
-
You have 3-5 years of similar compliance experience, previous experience in a start up is a big plus.
-
Working knowledge of VAT/GST mechanics, US state tax compliance, corporate income tax coordination, and statutory annual filings. You don't need to file them yourself but you need to know enough to review and challenge.
-
Strong track record managing external consultants - you can spot underperformance, push back on scope creep, and negotiate fees.
-
Strong written communication. You will be drafting emails to auditors, consultants, regulators, and executive leadership constantly.
-
Bias toward automation. You should be comfortable adopting LLMs to reduce manual work, and proposing new automations where you see repetitive patterns.
-
Self-directed, calendar-driven, and comfortable with ownership. If a filing is missed on your watch, it is on you.
