Job Summary
Directs and oversees operations and strategic planning of operations. Supports the University of Utah’s goals and mission. Acts as a catalyst between departments, faculty, staff, students, and external entities to ensure continuity and quality of service.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Directs the development and implementation of operations of the Center for Financial Technology that are consistent with the University of Utah’s goals and objectives. (30%)
- Responsible for evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures and determining implementation of changes as needed. (10%)
- Provides strategic direction by setting short and long-term goals, estimating budgetary requirements for staff, space and equipment planning, and implementing special projects and policies. (5%)
- Oversees some aspects of staff management including recruitment and retention of assigned staff. (5%)
- Assist in forecasts staffing, capital and operating budget needs in evaluating and reporting space utilization review, staff performance evaluation, etc. (5%)
- Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external partners. (10%)
- Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships. (5%)
- Arranges logistics for all events and provides administrative support, including preparation and dissemination of informational materials and communications regarding the event. This may include, but not limited to; audiovisual usage, catering, security, supplies, transportation/parking, and guest services. (20%)
- Maintains ongoing communication with guests, staff and vendors. (5%)
- Provides administrative support; may negotiate contracts. (5%)
Problem Solving
Incumbents in this position have the authority to manage designated programs and services. Directs the planning and administration of the Center’s budget and makes spending decisions within budget guidelines. Oversees program development for assigned units and ensures that policies and procedures are followed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related area, or equivalency; eight years of progressively more responsible management experience; and demonstrated leadership, human relations and effective communications skills required.
Master’s degree in Business Administration, or related area preferred.

Preferences
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the current FinTech industry across all disciplines, including, but not limited to embedded banking (Banking 3.0), lending, credit decisioning, SME management solutions, CryptoCurrency, NFT’s, blockchain, payments, digital ID, and consumer management solutions, wealth tech, and insurtech.
Candidates who have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and that have spent a significant portion of their professional career split between core banking/financial services and the FinTech industry are highly preferred.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of supervising industry events with 3 years of progressively more responsible event coordination experience.
