In addition to industry-leading security certifications, Copper has one of the strongest insurance coverages in the industry from an A+ rated insurer, positioning the firm as the partner of choice for institutions seeking to safeguard their assets.Department environment The compliance officer Switzerland primary role is to serve as Deputy Anti-Money Laundering Act Officer (Deputy AMLA Officer) for Copper Markets Switzerland, supporting the Head of Risk and Compliance Switzerland and the local team, whilst contributing to the wider global compliance program of Copper Technologies (UK) Limited. Copper’s compliance Team has been established to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The Compliance team aims to support Copper’s business as it continues to embrace the regulatory landscape in which Copper operates. Key Responsibilities of the role
Actively contribute to all matters related to compliance, risk management, and legal/regulatory obligations within the Swiss jurisdiction. Serve as the deputy to the AMLA Officer, assuming departmental responsibilities during their absence to ensure continuity of compliance oversight. Support engagement and communication with the Money Laundering Reporting Offices (MROs) and other relevant financial regulators. Lead the end-to-end coordination of external audits and drive the implementation of corrective action plans in response to audit outcomes, internally identified issues, and Compliance Monitoring Team (CMT) assessments. Take ownership of compliance with applicable regulatory standards, with a primary focus on anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, and reporting obligations. Manage escalations from the Compliance team and play an active role in fulfilling reporting duties to regulators, including the filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), and other required submissions. Ensure that material risks and issues are appropriately escalated to the Head of Compliance Switzerland in a timely and structured manner. Contribute to the development and refinement of compliance strategies, policies, and procedures, in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders. Support the enhancement and expansion of the Compliance Program at both local and global levels, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and best practices. Assist in maintaining the operational effectiveness of Copper’s transaction monitoring systems and related protocols, ensuring that potential illicit activity is identified and addressed in accordance with regulatory and ethical standards. Provide compliance advisory support to teams such as Marketing, Product, and Strategy, ensuring that business initiatives align with applicable legal and regulatory frameworks. Monitor and contribute to regulatory and supervisory affairs, including oversight of changes in the local and global legal landscape that may impact the business. Collaborate proactively with the Compliance team to promote awareness of legal and regulatory obligations across the organisation.
Your experience, skills and knowledge
Professional experience in a compliance role focusing on AML & KYC. Experience in regulatory compliance in Switzerland, gained preferable in digital assets or within a regulated environment Sound knowledge of applicable (Swiss, Liechtenstein, EU and / or UK) regulatory regimes, rules and regulations. Fluent in German and English
Desirable
Degree or professional equivalent in a relevant discipline, legal or law qualification desirable. CAMS, CFE, CIA or other relevant certification(s) preferable. Demonstrable research skills regarding forthcoming regulatory and legal developments, assessing and determining the impact to the business. Knowledge of financial markets, investment products and asset classes and willingness to expand knowledge further. Professional experience working withing Crypto or digital asset industry.
