Based in Sydney, we’re one of the largest and most active venture capital funds in Australia and New Zealand. We’re a down-to-earth team with a diverse set of backgrounds but the same passion: startups and technology. Our mission is to find and back iconic technology projects and companies.

We have over $1.5bn AUM and are currently investing a $700m fund of which $50m is dedicated to seed stage crypto investments. If you join us, you'll be the first Investment Manager we've hired to focus on crypto. You'll get to source, invest in and work with exciting crypto projects like Immutable, Altered State Machine, Zeta Markets, Reputation DAO, Crypto Tax Calculator and many more!

You'll also be tightly integrated into our broader investment team and have exposure to many of the most exciting Web2 startups in our region including Canva, Linktree, Go1, Immutable, Milkrun, Secure Code Warrior, Athena, Brighte, Qwilr and Frankie One.

Requirements

• Strong passion for and knowledge of the crypto space
• Intense curiosity and open-mindedness
• Humble, helpful and empathetic - founders want to work with you and you build long lasting relationships
• Ability to evaluate highly technical companies and protocols
• Strong analytical skills
• Thrive in a fast moving, unstructured environment
• Strong ethical code

Preferred

• Already a contributor to relevant communities
• Strong network in crypto
• Background in computer science/programming
• Familiarity with relevant crypto tools and forums (e.g., know your way around Crypto Twitter, Discord, Dune Analytics, navigating contracts on Etherscan)
• A broader interest in software and Web2 and an appetite to work on Web2 software investments from time to time

About the Role

This is a full time role.

We’re looking for someone with a true passion for Web3, startups, technology and shaping the future. You will become an integral part of our investment team and be involved in the entire process from sourcing, to investment, to working with our projects and helping them to succeed. You will be based in Sydney but will travel within Australia and beyond, as well as attend events and more.

What You’ll do

Your primary role will be to source new crypto investments and work along our partners through the lifecycle of the investment process. Working together with the Partners at AirTree, you will:

• Source new early stage, private crypto opportunities
• Build and contribute to important and emerging communities
• Help us develop a prepared mind about emerging frontiers (e.g. DeFi in 2018, NFTs in 2020) through research and market mapping
• Work with the Partners on the full lifecycle of investments: conduct diligence, monitor and help the portfolio, successfully divest
• Represent AirTree at events and in the broader tech ecosystem
• Build and maintain great relationships with various stakeholders and help us build on our reputation for being a founder-friendly partner to some of the most successful projects

AirTree is a flexible, supportive and family-friendly workplace.

This role is based in Sydney but we fully support our team to WFH.
