Web3 Lead Site Reliability Engineer (L4)

What you'll be doing :

• System Architecture: Review architecture and develop release plans with software engineers and architects for large scale events or changes. Identify requirements for SRE functions to support releases, including provisioning resources, failover procedures or researching new tools.

• Operational Excellence: Establish SLO and SLAs according to external and internal requirements. Develop tools for automation and observability for product engineering to be autonomous and empowered. Foster a culture of proactive problem solving based on observability data.

• Security and Compliance: Manage security controls to meet enterprise requirements in collaboration with legal and compliance advice. Assess overall risk management and adapt to emerging security threats and trends.

• Disaster Recovery: Develop disaster recovery plans and regular test procedures to ensure business continuity. Collaborate with development and support functions to provide clear escalation paths. Lead post-mortems, prioritize improvement plans and communicate progress broadly to all stakeholders.

• Cost Management: Execute a comprehensive cost to provide transparency and accountability for engineering teams. Lead cost optimization initiatives while meeting scaling and delivery requirements, with direction from engineering and finance management.

• Engineering Leadership: Work with cross-functional teams, including technical and business teams to drive product impact. Serve as the main point-of-contact for the assigned team to other functions.

• Coaching: Be an effective mentor to junior and senior engineers. Be familiar with core values and be able to advise on the career development of individual team members.

• Team Growth & Engagement: Engage with individual team members. Contribute to hiring new staff and advise talent development of individual contributors.

• Knowledge sharing: Be passionate about improving personal skills and inspire the same values in the team. Lead upskilling activities within the team.

• Support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company.

• Proven track record: Have 8-10 years in managing critical systems in production environments with defined SLAs and SLOs. Strong knowledge of site reliability practices and managing. Experienced setting delivery cadences for a team of contributors over long-term projects with stellar results.

• Product Knowledge: Is a power user and advocate of CoinGecko products. Have general knowledge of financial markets, blockchains and cryptocurrency ecosystems. 

• Cloud Operations: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, CloudFlare, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation). Strong programming and scripting skills, preferably in languages such as Python, Go, or Ruby. 

• Accreditation: Bachelor’s degree in Comp Sci., InfoSec or similar fields, or professional certificates e.g. Certified DevOps Professional, Certified Solutions Architect Professional in AWS or GCP. 

• Scope of Work: Work on objective-driven yet open-ended aspects of delivery. Play a key role in defining your own key results, and work with management to create a roadmap for the area you oversee.

• Problem-Solving: Solve hard problems with many constraints, using sound judgment to assess risks and present arguments in a well-structured, data-backed, written narrative. Have passion, creativity and empathy for users.

• Leadership: Strong sense of leadership and experience in working in growth-stage startups and leading a team of software developers to achieve a specific objective.

• Quick Thinking: Able to derive information, think critically and make snap judgements based on measured data in high pressure situations.

• People Skills: Excellent communicator who is able to build working relationships within the team. Proven ability to engage with engineers, designers, and company leaders in a constructive and collaborative relationship.
