About the Role

We are currently building a corporate venture investment fund (Figure Ventures) and team for Figure, investing in early stage Fintech companies and other innovative sectors.

We are seeking a Managing Director/Partner who will help launch and scale our venture capital investing arm (from sourcing to exiting deals) and build our start up community (fundraising, and community development and engagement). This individual will lead the fund’s investment activities leveraging our network-powered approach to venture co-investing and portfolio management, building annual high-quality venture funds alongside leading U.S. venture capitalists. The Figure Ventures team will work closely with the Figure Equity Solutions and Startups teams and have access to a proprietary deal pipeline.

As Managing Director/Partner of this Fund, you will source and sponsor venture deals, manage a small team within a much larger organization and will report to Figure Ventures’ Board. This is a full-time position based in our Bay Area or NY office with some travel required for the successful execution of your responsibilities. This position provides an amazing opportunity to receive competitive economics in an innovative and growing business and within the stability of a larger organization.

What You'll Do

• Leverage the existing Figure ecosystem for deal sourcing and to identify co-investors
• Oversee due diligence and evaluation on private companies and own end-to-end aspects of the deal, including sourcing, qualification, financial modeling, and closing activities
• Lead in developing an investment pipeline, and portfolio manage existing investments
• Establish an effective investment platform and strong track record for subsequent funds
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build the ecosystem and create powerful network effectsBuild, cultivate, and grow long-term relationships with network contacts, particularly in the Fintech sector, throughout the venture community ecosystem
• Serve as a thought leader in the Fintech space and participate in engagement that elevates the industry innovation

What We Look For

• 10+ years of relevant experience at the cross-section of venture capital, corporate development/investment banking, consulting, private equity, and/or operations at a high-growth start-up
• Great investment track record and demonstrated ability to build and inspire a team
• Existing network in the venture and start up community
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage executive-level relationships with founders, co-investors and strategic partners
• Excellent judgment, mature personality, and well-connected
• Ability to self-manage and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Pivotal role in numerous venture financings; Board or Observer roles is a plus
• Adept with term sheets, negotiations, venture capital investing and fundraising; strategic thinker -- knows what’s best for the business
• Entrepreneurial empathy; prior founder or operating experience at a high growth company
