The Role - What will you be doing?
This is an exciting opportunity to join the growing BCB team. We are on a mission to build the world's leading financial hub for the crypto and blockchain industry.
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Paralegal to join our small legal team and assist with all aspects of in-house legal responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our legal operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Below is a brief outline of the key responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal support: Work collaboratively within a cross-functional team to offer commercial, regulatory, product, and contractual legal support across various projects within the Group. This involves liaising with internal stakeholders from different departments to ensure effective legal guidance.
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts: Assist in the preparation, review, and negotiation of a wide range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents pertinent to BCB Group's operations, including client agreements, vendor contracts, and partnership agreements.
- Conduct legal research: Conduct thorough legal research on diverse topics related to financial regulation, compliance, and digital assets to facilitate the provision of accurate and timely legal advice by the legal team.
- Assist with regulatory compliance: Support regulatory scoping efforts both domestically in the UK and internationally, and provide assistance in advising the company on upcoming regulatory developments to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage contract lifecycle: Assist in the administration of the Group’s contract lifecycle management system to ensure efficient handling of contractual matters and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement legal policies: Contribute to the development and implementation of legal policies, procedures, and training programmes aimed at promoting compliance and mitigating legal risks within the organisation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends: Keep abreast of industry trends, legal developments, and best practices to ensure that BCB Group's legal practices remain current and effective in addressing evolving regulatory and market conditions.
- Facilitate effective communication: Maintain professional and courteous communication with both internal and external parties, ensuring timely and efficient collaboration in legal matters.
So, what are we looking for?
If you can demonstrate some of the following experience/skills below, we would love to have a conversation.
- Must be available to work full time and come into our London office once a month (as a minimum).
- Experience or an interest in commercial contracts and/or financial regulation.
- Keen interest in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry (and experience is preferential).
- Previous experience working in a legal environment, preferably within the financial services industry or a regulatory agency.
- A strong academic record, educated to at least LPC / SQE (or european equivalent)** OR Demonstrable practical experience working with contracts and/or in a regulatory environment.
- Ability to perform to a high level in an exciting, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving environment.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively manage own workload.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- Ability to understand and explain complex topics in basic terms.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and/or Google Docs is a must have.
**Candidates who have completed the GDL / Undergraduate Degree in Law / European equivalent will also be considered.
