About the role
We are looking for a Payroll Lead. In this role, you will be reporting to the Head of Token Product.
We are looking for a highly-motivated individual who is ready to redefine traditional compensation structures globally. The Token Payroll Lead will be tasked with rolling out Toku’s crypto and traditional payroll product in 100+ jurisdictions. This means dynamically working with teammates to research, synthesize, and apply global taxation policies on both cash and crypto to our payrolls. The Payroll Lead will also provide valuable feedback in the development of Toku’s flagship software solution, our global Tax Engine.
Responsibilities
- Help design and execute the strategic vision for the Token Payroll Team by helping create new workflows, process ownership, and workflow mapping.
- End-to-end management of Toku’s local tax/payroll consultant engagement process and ensuring external vendor buy-in for Toku’s global token payroll vision.
- Implement scalable systems to document and comply with local regulations surrounding token payroll, money transmitter laws, or any other licensing requirements.
- Working closely with the tax engine engineering team to ensure that tax logic is implemented correctly and act as the liaison between the local vendor and Toku’s engineering team.
- Acting as the first line of defense when auditing tax logic in each country by ensuring consistent documentation around new country roll-out and ongoing token payroll operations
- Balance strong execution on day-to-day responsibilities with Toku’s long-term vision and roadmap, taking into account clients’ expectations and needs.
- Provide rigorous data analysis and reporting on Toku’s token payroll roll-outs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in global taxation, mobility, and/or global payroll ideally at a Big 4 firm or global startup
- Experience preparing and executing a payroll end-to-end in two or multiple countries
- Experience with non-cash compensations as it relates to payroll (i.e. RSUs)
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing priorities
- Reputation for integrity, dedicated work ethic, and desire for ownership & accountability
- Relentless execution ethic and lots of energy
- Extraordinary writing abilities, with a knack for structured thinking, concise summarization, and dynamic tone
- Bonus: Basic knowledge of cryptocurrencies, NFTs, or other digital assets and their related tax treatments is a big plus.
