Your mission:

We are actively recruiting a Principal Animator to help MPG deliver the best possible Animation support for our games.  

You are a highly experienced animator, having worked on multiple projects, with a great eye for detail, who is always striving to push their and others' work to the highest possible level. You can be relied upon to consistently create exceptional quality content, happy to turn your hand to any new challenge, whilst supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team.

Please note this is a fully remote position in the UK.

What you'll be doing:

    • Creating high-quality keyframe responsive and stylised animation that supports gameplay
    • Work with the Designers, and Engineers to integrate and maintain animation for games. 
    • Help to develop and define  animation pipeline needs and improvements for a wide range of projects.
    • Work alongside the Lead Artists to mentor more junior team members, pushing the teams animation abilities and quality level.
    • Should have an enthusiastic, can-do attitude, happy to accept difficult animation challenges.
    • Contribute to the conceptualisation of character behaviours and abilities.

What we'll need from you:

    • Have a deep understanding of game animation, able to demonstrate skills that support gameplay, alongside an excellent understanding of the principles of animation.
    • Can work from high-level creative direction and provide creative direction for more junior animators.
    • Assist in setting the standards for the quality and >
    • Excellent communication skills, whilst being empathetic, mature and maintaining a  professional attitude.
    • Animation experience with a wide variety of characters, primarily humanoid, but quadruped, creatures and prop assets a bonus.
    • Excellent character animation skills, including facial animation using keyframe and motion capture pipeline. 
    • Have a deep understanding of implementation from design to the engine.

What would help:

    • Cinematics experience is a plus 
    • Experience in a similar role is desirable. 
    • Experience editing Mocap is a plus. 
    • Experience in direct communication with clients.
    • Experience with Unreal.
