THE OPPORTUNITY AT CENTRE

We are an early-stage technology company and network of participants formed to drive the growth of global stablecoins using native price-stable crypto assets, network protocols and business rules. Our vision is to use crypto assets and blockchain technology to allow businesses to exchange value instantly, globally, securely and at low cost.

We were founded in 2018 by market-leading companies Coinbase and Circle to enable the development and growth of Centre stablecoins, commencing with the establishment of USD Coin (USDC) in 2018. Built to the highest standards of technology and security, USDC has become the world’s fastest growing stablecoin, with a current market capitalization of more than $40 billion. Our stablecoin model is unique in the industry because it is tied 1:1 with fiat currency, multi-chain and multi-currency.

We are now building out our leadership team, and as an early member, you will have an exceptional opportunity to bring our tech-driven company to the next level of success and secure Centre stablecoins as a new and critical pillar of the global financial system.

THE ROLE: RISK AND COMPLIANCE SENIOR MANAGER

At Centre, the role of Risk and Compliance Senior Manager requires skills as broad and diverse as the opportunity we are creating. We are looking for an individual with strong knowledge and experience in enterprise and operational risk management required at large financial institutions, a basic understanding of blockchain technology and knowledge of the crypto industry, and intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm and vision for the future of money that is limitless.

As Centre’s Risk and Compliance Senior Manager, you will actively manage the identification of risks and controls of stablecoin operations across the ecosystem, including risks arising from issuers, blockchains and other participants. In addition, you will actively participate in the ongoing development of Centre risk and compliance standards to manage such risks. Also, you will manage, through monitoring and reporting, the compliance of Centre issuers and other network participants to the Centre risk and compliance standards. You will engage frequently with external stakeholders, coordinate and participate in working groups, and effectively run the Centre Risk Committee.

Reporting to the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer and working closely with the senior leadership team and the CEO, you will play a critical role in establishing Centre as the global standard setter for stablecoins and ensuring that Centre-standard stablecoins operate in a trusted, compliant, risk-managed ecosystem as they increasingly become a major part of the global financial system.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with Centre internal and external stakeholders (such as issuers and blockchains) to identify and assess risks and controls related to stablecoin operations.
  • Build out, manage, and maintain the risk and control inventory and the output of assessments.
  • Update Centre Standards to capture new or revised rules that address stablecoin operations risks.
  • Manage and build risk reporting metrics and report out to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Manage the due diligence of new issuers, blockchains and other Centre members prior to onboarding.
  • Monitor compliance of Centre, issuers and other participants with the Centre Risk and Compliance Standards, including utilization of and primary Centre responsibility for the third-party governance, risk and compliance software solution.
  • Build out, manage and provide compliance reporting to senior leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate, prepare materials and have primary responsibility for running the Centre Risk Management Committee.
  • Coordinate, prepare materials and agendas for, and actively participate in working groups comprised of Centre internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions to stablecoin risk and compliance issues. Some issues and solutions are legal and regulatory in nature, so legal experience is a plus.
  • Organize and maintain artifacts generated during meetings (such as minutes) and support, curate, and manage reports and other artifacts produced by such working groups.

The role is global in nature, working alongside our members and Centre community, to identify stablecoin risks, develop solutions, and ensure compliance with the evolving Centre standards.

What You Will Bring to Centre

  • 5+ years of operational and/or enterprise risk management experience supporting a large financial institution
  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in blockchain / crypto preferred
  • BA/BS minimum
  • JD preferred
  • Proficient with spreadsheets and familiar with GRC software
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to drive results in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong interest in stablecoin markets and ecosystems
  • A belief in the power and potential of price stable crypto assets to enable financial inclusion on a global scale
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment in which priorities may shift
  • A willingness to be put to your highest and best use, given the opportunities and evolving needs of this dynamic organization
