Reserve Protocol is hiring a
Web3 Senior Accountant (Protocol)

Compensation: $72k - $110k estimated

Location: CA San Francisco, California, United States

Role Summary:

We are a small team, and for the foreseeable future you will be directly in charge of accounting and bookkeeping, including the design of systems and the direct work of making sure everything is accurate and up to date. We require annual 3rd party audits, which you’ll lead. Reporting to our CEO, you will have direct responsibility for the books and records of the main treasury company within the Reserve project, as well as incorporating financial statements from several other companies in our corporate group for consolidated group tax filings. You’ll hold a corporate officer title for one of the subsidiaries in the group, and will work with the Finance Director of that company to ensure everything is being done in accordance with GAAP. You’ll consider US tax owed on behalf of controlled foreign corporations in our group, and other exotic nuances that come along with running a crypto project early in the history of cryptocurrency. You’ll probably use a high-powered accounting system like NetSuite rather than Quickbooks or Xero in order to be able to roll up financials from multiple entities, and you’ll probably use a crypto-specific platform like BitWave to track our token movements across exchanges and DeFi applications on-chain, but these platform choices will be up to you as the person in charge of the area.

We have many systems in place today, and you will have the option to keep or upgrade them as you see fit. You’ll learn the ropes from our existing part-time CFO, who will transition out and leave you fully in charge once you are ready. You’ll spend some of your time budgeting and forecasting, and you’ll contribute to some financial strategy decisions in coordination with the CEO, but the majority of your time at the start will go into accurate tracking of financial activities. If you are able to handle all of that and still have time left over, and if you have the desire and judgment required, you may end up helping with the investment allocation of the treasury in order to maintain and grow the treasury, as well as working on other financial projects that arise over time. It’s a startup environment, so there’s a lot of room for growth as the project progresses.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in financial management.
  • Solid understanding of financial management and accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting softwares.
  • Knowledge of US tax regulations.
  • Startup experience.
  • Broad knowledge of GAAP.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • An analytical mind with good organizational skills.
  • A strong command of the English language

Nice to haves:

  • Web3/Defi Background
