Web3 Sr DeFi Strategist

Volume successfully launched Sommelier’s first iteration as PeggyJV, bringing the Cosmos Ethereum bridge to market and resulted in Sommelier raising a total $25MM in funding to launch the first automated DeFi blockchain to manage Liquidity Provider capital on Ethereum via the Cosmos. Sommelier consists of the Cosmos Stargate SDK, its Tendermint-based consensus layer and a decentralized, bi-directional Ethereum bridge, managed by a global network of validators. Liquidity Providers (LPs) will be able to use Sommelier to author and execute complex, automated financial transactions, such as portfolio rebalancing, limit orders, as well as a host of other features that token holders have come to expect from centralized finance (CeFi), but that are not currently available in DeFi.

About the Role:

As a DeFi Strategist on the Portfolio Management team, you have the opportunity to join a dynamic group of people focused on researching, interpreting, and capitalizing on cryptocurrency markets. Our ideal candidate for this position will be interested in learning how they can apply their skills in a quantitative trading environment. You should have a can-do attitude around supporting the team in a variety of ways and be motivated by this chance to learn and work alongside a team of experienced traders and technologists.

As a DeFi Strategist, you will work alongside the Data Science team to understand and propose new trading strategies that will power our DeFi partners automated market maker protocols as well as those of Volume’s. Your strategies will be back-tested with data and then implemented and managed both by software and by the Portfolio Management team.

Our software empowers Sommelier validators to secure the Sommelier network which offers DeFi/CeFi automation globally. As an early employee, you will be a critical part of our core team and have a significant influence over the direction of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategy design (Cryptocurrency, tokenomic research, etc...)
• Monitoring and reconciling trading positions consistently throughout the shift
• Preparation of daily P&L, exposure, and risk reports
• Communicating with cryptocurrency exchanges, internal technology groups regarding trading system issues and other trading teams
• Researching potential trading opportunities and partnering with other trading teams to help devise new trading strategies
• Other duties as assigned or needed

REQUIREMENTS

• PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or similar
• Interest in cryptocurrencies and an understanding of the various currencies, exchanges, etc. required
• Experience trading a variety of assets and a deep understanding of market microstructure
• Experience with Quantitative Research and DeFi Strategy, required
• Proficient in MS Excel and Putty
• Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral
• Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in making decisions
• Aptitude and preference for working in a highly collaborative environment
• At least 2+ years trading experience preferred
• Reliable and predictable availability
