Position Summary
The Vice President Booking is primarily focused on sourcing talent, negotiating, and securing deals with high-priority clients and promoters for shows for the venue(s). The VP will be responsible through subordinate management for working with the sports tenants to assist with the scheduling and maintaining Crypto.com Arena’s calendar as well as through subordinate management working with the award shows and residency’s to assist with the scheduling and maintaining Microsoft Theater and L.A. Live Venues’ calendars.
Essential Functions
- In order to maximize and optimize the arena and theater calendars and overall programming, this role is responsible for negotiating a wide range of rental deals including straight rentals or co-promotions. Responsible for talent buying, specifically at Microsoft Theater
- Responsible for developing and managing relationships in the industry as well as utilizing those contacts to advance Crypto.com Arena, Microsoft Theater and L.A. LIVE’s live event and entertainment opportunities
- Works across functions and levels to collaborate with internal teams that support the booked events. Teams include but are not limited to: finance, event services, ticketing, marketing, legal, risk management etc.
- Performs analysis to identify market competition, threats and emerging opportunities and Researches event viability and risk factors in coordination with events
- Rotate with other facility personnel to function as Building Manager on Duty (BMOD), at Crypto.com Arena and maintain responsibility over all clients, team members, guests, security and safety in assigned building
- Work closely with the Senior Vice President, Booking Operations & Marketing to provide leadership, support, and direction to the booking team
- Assist with special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year)
- A minimum of 12+ years of related work experience
- 10+ years experience buying concert talent
- Experience leading, mentoring and coaching high performing teams
- Previous Arena and/or Theater experience
- Experience in creating budgets/proformas
- Experience with negotiation and closing large volume deals
- Must have established positive relationships with major agents, managers, artists and associated personnel
- Must have understanding of local market to maximize event performance
- Ability to interpret and analyze budgets, ticket audits, agreements, etc.
- Ability to execute duties in professional and confidential manner while maintaining a high level of independence.
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to work with multiple teams and people of all levels of an organization.
- Must be able to oversee all aspects of concert execution including booking artists, negotiating contract deals and riders, marketing, ticketing, production logistics and settlements, guests lists/ticket requests for all events
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to learn other required business systems
- Detailed oriented and organizational process driven
- Very good interpersonal skills; works well with others
- Excellent listening and communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work extended work hours to include: evenings, weekends, and/or holiday(s)
- Multilingual is a plus
