As a CFTC-registered Derivatives Clearing Organization, we're bringing regulatory credibility and institutional-grade infrastructure to the rapidly growing crypto derivatives market. Cboe Clear US is where sophisticated clearing technology meets the digital asset revolution. The VP, Head of Software Engineering, will lead technology strategy and platform development for Cboe Clear US, a high-growth division at the forefront of derivatives clearing innovation. Reporting to the CTO, you'll build and scale an engineering organization that delivers mission-critical clearing technology while shaping the future of our clearing infrastructure. Cboe Clear US operates a multi-region, cloud-based real-time clearing platform with an opportunity to update the platform to the most recent technologies. Cboe Clear US and Europe will work together to create a globally consistent, locally optimized platform - ensuring transparency, security, and efficiency in a rapidly evolving marketplace. Responsibilities People Build and inspire a high-performing engineering team that drives innovation and operational excellence for Cboe Clear US Shape talent strategy through mentorship, professional development, and succession planning that positions team members for long-term growth
Lead global collaboration across Cboe's clearing ecosystem, partnering closely with Cboe Clear Europe to drive a unified technology strategy Influence enterprise strategy as an active member of Cboe's Senior Management group, partnering with Executive Leadership to define the company's strategic direction Business and Product Work closely as part of Cboe Clear US management team to enable product business strategy as we look to expand into new asset classes and derivative products through innovative technical solutions such as blockchain Determine best technological solutions across multiple initiatives and competing priorities to balance timelines and building scalable platforms Able to communicate technology vision to senior leaders and provide business summaries on developmental enhancements Work collaboratively with Legal, Product Management, and Business leaders to ensure our platforms meet or exceed customer and regulatory demands Technology Work with Cboe Clear Europe define and implement the global clearing technology strategy Develop and execute the Cboe Clear US product roadmap Drive Agile, continuous integration and frequent deployments of the Cboe Clear US platform Operational mindset to develop and continuously improve the resilient and performant platform for the Cboe Clear US business Lead development support for critical incident response Evaluate and adopt and/or develop emerging technologies to drive the growth of the Cboe Clear US business (Tokenization, AI/ML, etc.) Partner with Infrastructure to define our resilient cloud strategy Work proactively with Information Security and other teams across Cboe to ensure the secure operation and development of our platforms
Other Leadership Work seamlessly with Finance on IP, Tax, operating and capital budgets Work with Risk and Internal Audit departments to ensure the resilience of our risk management controls Respond thoroughly and effectively to exam requests from regulators and audit requests from the Internal Audit Department Track record of leading technology initiatives in highly regulated environments, including experience engaging with regulatory bodies such as the CFTC Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related discipline. 10 + years of proven expertise and leadership in global markets clearing or operations technology Ability to grow and build high performance technology teams by developing leaders and individuals Experience and detailed understanding of clearing concepts such as settlement, margin and collateral management, risk management Highly technical software engineering background Comfortable reviewing code (Python, Java, SQL.) and technical architecture Track record of implementing innovative technical solutions (Tokenization is preferred) Significant expertise building highly resilient systems preferably in the cloud Experience managing teams using cloud first technology and frameworks such as GitOps and DevOps Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work with other leaders to balance technology and business priorities Highly structured with experience managing with Agile and associated tools such as Jira and Confluence Outstanding communication and executive presence, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build consensus across technical and business teams

Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $246,500-$304,500 per year. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time. Within the range, individual pay is determined by actual work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
