Loki is an open source, fully funded project with over 25 staff based in Melbourne, Australia. We've developed a censorship resistant onion routing network with an end-to-end encrypted messaging service built on top of a privacy centric cryptocurrency.
Our main focus has been building Session, our decentralised secure messaging client based on an existing Electron, iOS and Android application https://getsession.org
Other products we are working on include a novel onion routing technology, https://github.com/loki-project/loki-network/, and instant private transactions on a Monero based blockchain https://loki.network
COVID-19 has been an interesting time for the company, but we're ready to grow the team again with the right engineer. We believe that the best engineers are language and framework agnostic, so the requirements for this role are pretty fluid.
What we're looking for
We are looking for someone with skills that are complimentary to our stack. Our stack deals in the following frameworks and languages:
- C & C++ (Backend infrastructure & blockchain stack)
- Electron, Typescript, React, Node (Session Desktop, and other peripheral web services)
- Android, Kotlin and Java (Session android, Loki android wallet, and Lokinet's android port)
- iOS, Swift and Obj C (Session iOS, Loki iOS wallet)
We're looking for an all rounder with experience in any of the above areas, or someone with specialist skills in the following areas:
- Backend C++/Rust Experience
- Blockchain Technology
- Distributed Network Engineering
- Solidity Smart Contract Experience
- User Interface/Front End Design
- Information Security/Penetration Testing
- Games development (C++)
- Open Source Projects/git
This role is for a mid-level/senior engineer with a minimum of 2 years working experience. Startup or OSS experience is a plus. Fresh graduates should gain some real engineering experience before applying.
Your role
You'll join the team and be assigned to one of our existing projects based on your existing skillset. This will help us free up more developer time to be deployed where necessary.
The process
- Apply within, send through any questions
- If we're interested, you'll be required to conduct a 1 on 1 code interview online with one of our developers in the language of your choice
- Based on your performance, we will decide if we want to offer you an interview with the founders
- If that goes well, you're in. Simple as that.
The team & location
Developers on this project will work in a team of driven and youthful engineers and professionals who share a passion for privacy technologies. We have a great private office in central Melbourne (closed because of COVID for now) and some remote developers in the US, but applicants should only apply if they already live in Melbourne or are planning on relocating to Melbourne.
Candidates will enjoy a lively culture and a challenging, wide breadth of tasks and projects to work on, and an opportunity to be more flexible and self-directed whilst working on a project with potential real-world impact.
Remote candidates in the West Asia/European timezones need not apply.
Developers working on this project must gain proficiency in participating in open source development, including chipping in to design discussions and documenting progress.
Salaries and rewards are dependant on your experience and skill level, between the ranges of $80,000AUD and $120,000AUD plus super.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $80,000.00 to $120,000.00 /year
