Web3 Back End Software Engineer

Compensation: $63k - $90k estimated

Location: OR Remote, Oregon, United States

Job Description

Near foundation is looking for a Backend software engineer to join the Dev Labs team.

The backend software engineer at DEV LABS works in a small cross-functional team within the NEAR Foundation to ship Foundation or NEAR ecosystem critical software projects. The nature of the projects can vary from serving demands of internal teams at the NEAR Foundation (such as Finance / Marketing), helping external parties successfully deliver NEAR Integrations, or ship open-source tools (middleware / decentralized applications) to benefit the great NEAR ecosystem

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Building and owning the backend part of full-stack products
  • Collaborating with internal and external engineers and community members
  • Participating in the on-call rotation together with other engineers

What We're Looking For:

  • Experiencing using C, C++ or Rust, as well as Node.js, and preferably MongoDB / PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with low-level programming (compilers, operating systems, hypervisors, etc). Knowledge of virtual machines specifically is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience of maintaining a project.
  • You should be able to work with your peers and other teams with a shared sense of purpose. No room for ego here. People should want to work with you.
  • Experience and interest in building and documenting tools
  • Strong communication and remote friendly working skill

We'd Love If You Have:

  • Open source contributions and previous or continued involvement in open source communities
  • Familiarity with Ethereum development and related technologies (web3.js, ethers.js, etc)
  • Familiarity with other crypto or blockchain technologies
  • Experience working at a startup

We Value:

    1. ECOSYSTEM-FIRST: always put the health and success of the ecosystem above any individual's interest.
    2. OPENNESS: operate transparently and consistently share knowledge to build open communities.
    3. PRAGMATISM OVER PERFECTION: find the right solution not the ideal solution and beat dogmatism by openly considering all ideas.
    4. MAKE IT FEEL SIMPLE: strive to make the complex feel simple so the technology is accessible to all.
    5. GROW CONSTANTLY: learn, improve and fail productively so the project and community are always becoming more effective.
