Heretic Ventures is seeking an experienced, product focused Software Engineer, who is highly skilled in using java and/or javascript to create algorithms capable of generating visually complex and beautiful outputs. You will be reporting to the Chief Product Officer of Heretic Ventures, and will work in a small product team that moves fast to test, validate and scale concepts that become investment bets and future companies.
This is a unique opportunity to help build the next billion-dollar creator company while learning from successful repeat entrepreneurs and a stable of powerful and experienced mentors and advisors. What you will do
- Use javascript, java and related libraries( p5js, processing, etc) to build visual code in close collaboration with visual artists.
- Build core algorithms from start to finish; from conception and research to implementation and iteration, all the way through deployment, maintenance, and future iterations
- Implement reusable components, libraries, and design systems
- Think holistically about how parts of systems fit together from the UX to the underlying APIs and data models
- Prioritize projects and tasks based on impact; balancing moving fast and building for the long haul
- Bring positive energy in every interaction with the team, and foster inclusive collaboration
Desired Skills
- Advanced experience building visual code using Java and Javascript.
- A front end specialist with familiarity with the backend tech stack.
- Experienced at writing clean, scalable code with significant experience in Java and Javascript
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other applicable STEM fields.
- Drive and ambition to solve difficult product and technical problems
- Excited to move fast, prioritize, and constantly make critical product decisions.
- Comfortable with and curious about working outside of a traditional narrow engineering role.
- A self-starter: you have started something on your own before - a startup, an open-source project, something else.
- A deep love of startups.
