Web3 Head of Engineering

Kava Labs is hiring for a Head of Engineering. As a leader you’ll help set the strategy, direction, and goals in partnership with the executive team as the technical arm of the organization. You will also lead the growth and development of our engineers, as well as oversee the strategic architecture of the department. This is a US-based, full-time, remote position.

We are a 100% distributed workforce with teams in the US, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. While distributed, you will work alongside a team of world class crypto experts on an open-source project that transfers millions of dollars in assets daily, providing the financial primitives for the next evolution in crypto.

What You Will Do.

• Create and execute the engineering roadmap across both protocol and applications teams.
• Mentor, coach, and grow your team, with a focus on developing future leaders and upleveling individual contributors
• Partner with the recruiting department to develop a hiring plan that allows your team to achieve department growth and scaling needs. Prioritize hiring and staffing to attract top engineering talent.
• Developing processes, procedures, and tools that would allow optimizing performance and velocity within the engineering department.
• Actively participate in the hiring process of engineers and coordinate their training.
• Architect, design, research, and implement infrastructure on new and existing protocols
• Collaborate with product management and design leadership to achieve shared goals

Who You Are.

• 7+ years as a software engineer, including 2+ years a managerial role leading engineers.
• BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other technical discipline
• Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, exceptional communication skills
• Good understanding of agile methodologies and the ability to instill best practices
• A self-starter capable of adapting and adjust in a fast-paced changing digital environment is a must.
• Comfortable working in a high-stakes, high-growth, roll up your sleeves type of work and fast-paced environment.
• Nice to Have: Knowledge of the crypto/blockchain/defi space, Understanding of protocol development or distributed systems. Experience managing a globally distributed workforce.
