Our team creates and maintains essential resources—including SDKs, developer portals, and APIs—that enable clients to seamlessly self-serve our API products with minimal friction. As a key contributor to BitGo’s business expansion goals, your work will directly impact every engineer and client, driving innovation and enhancing the developer experience at scale. Responsibilities
Build customer‑centric quality systems: Design, implement, and operate production‑grade internal systems that exercise BitGo’s APIs exactly how real customers use them. Proactively identify failure modes, prevent regressions before they reach production, and raise confidence in every release. Own API quality and correctness at scale: Design and evolve monitoring, alerting, and metrics systems that track API drift, breaking changes, and specification compliance across the platform. Use data to surface risk, prioritize fixes, and drive measurable improvements in API health. Ship durable developer tooling: Design and deliver CI gates, linters, and automation that block defects early in the lifecycle. Your tools will be part of the critical path for hundreds of engineers; you are responsible for their correctness, performance, and long‑term maintainability. Operate with end‑to‑end ownership: Independently drive projects from problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and iteration. Write clear design docs, make maintainable technical decisions, and balance speed with correctness. Partner cross‑functionally: Work closely with product, infrastructure, security, QA, sales engineering, and customer‑facing teams to understand real user needs and translate them into high‑leverage technical solutions. Raise the engineering bar: Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions, and design. Identify systemic issues and propose improvements that make the broader engineering organization more effective.
Requirements
3–6 years of professional software engineering experience, including ownership of production systems. Strong proficiency in at least one modern, statically typed or functional language (e.g., TypeScript, Rust, Go, Java) and the ability to quickly become productive in others. Experience designing and building backend systems or developer tooling, such as APIs, CI/CD pipelines, linters, testing infrastructure, or internal platforms. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously: You can take ambiguous problems, clarify requirements, propose solutions, and execute with limited guidance. Solid system design fundamentals: You understand scalability, reliability, observability, and trade‑offs in real‑world systems, and can apply those principles pragmatically. Strong communication skills: You write clear design documents, explain trade‑offs, and collaborate effectively across teams and time zones. Interest in developer experience and leverage: You care deeply about making other engineers faster, safer, and more effective.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working on API developer portals and documentation tooling. Familiarity with tools for generating and maintaining OpenAPI specifications. Strong data analysis skills, with experience tracking user journeys and using data to drive continuous improvement.
